Accommodation:

House rabbits are holiday boarded in our heat monitored Main Building Area in 6ft joiner made hutches.
These hutches are also offered to family groups of guinea pigs.

Outside rabbits are holiday boarded in the Outside Cage Area in 6ft & 5ft hutches for a more natural stay with outside noises and outside temperature stay.

Guinea Pigs who are single, double or trio pets are normally holiday boarded in our heat monitored section known as the Mega-Shed Area in our joiner built 4ft & 5ft hutches.

Hamsters use one of our boarding tanks kept in the Main Building.

All animals are checked throughout the boarding day. 1st checks at 8am, Last check at 11pm.

We provide the nugget or mixed cereal food and Vegetables for your pets at no extra cost.

Your pets holiday is all inclusive all you have to bring is your pet for it's holiday at Hutches Boarding.
(Rabbits need to bring their up to date vaccination proof at the beginning of their stay).
The Main building and Mega-shed area's are heated when the cold weather appears and kept cool with fans and dehumidifiers in Summer.

Exercise:

OUTSIDE PLAYTIME:

We have safe outside Omlet play runs on our untreated safe grass section.

Playtime is weather permitting.

If you do not wish for your pet to go out into the play runs and stay in their hutch please inform Joanne or Ken at the time of booking or on arrival at Hutches Boarding for their holiday stay.

Health & Hygiene:

Rabbits must bring and leave their valid MYXO-RHD vet certificates on every visit to Hutches Boarding.

Only Vaccinated rabbits can holiday at Hutches Boarding.

Hutches Boarding will take your animal to our vets if your animal becomes unwell while on holiday.
You are required to pay the vet fees that Hutches Boarding has paid out on your behalf even in the event your pet has passed away.

Vet fees are paid on your return.

Each of our hutches are: vacuumed, mite & flea treated and disinfected after a pet leaves and before a new pet uses the hutch again.

If your male rabbit is un-neutered please inform Joanne or Ken Lockley at the time of booking to discuss this with them as normally extra cleaning is required for male un-neutered rabbits as a surcharge may apply during their stay at Hutches Boarding.

Please make Joanne or Ken aware if you have recently mite/flea treated your rabbits or guinea pigs prior to their holiday at Hutches Boarding.

Really impressed with the set up at hutches boarding. Big hutches, very clean. Kenneth was very knowledgeable about rabbits. Very reasonable rates for boarding which included all food. Our usually timid rabbit wasn't at all phased by his stay and was happy when he returned home.

Friendly and caring owners. Our guinea pig always comes home in good health.

We left our 2 girls in the care of Ken and Joanne for the first time this year for 3 weeks. The facilities are fabulous and the care and attention given to the animals was 5 stars. We will definitely be back 😊

Joanne & Ken have looked after our rabbits for many years. Our rabbits are always well looked after. Joanne amd Ken are very knowledgble about rabbit health and diet and we can go on holiday knowing our rabbits are in safe hands. Highly recommend Hutches Boarding - 5 stars.

Boarders Response:Thank you Margaret and Wullie for your lovely review of Hutches Boarding. We really enjoy caring for your bunnies Minstrel and Blossom on their holidays. They are such live wires. I still miss Buster, Basil and Midge your past bunnies who stayed at Hutches prior to Minstrel and Blossom. Thank you for taking the time in sending in a review for Hutches Ken and Joanne. P.S see you soon.

Joanne and Ken have looked after our guinea pigs and house rabbit for a number of years. They are always well looked after - the hutches are heated and cooled when appropriate, the animals are played soothing classical music and fed homegrown vegetables. I cannot speak highly enough of the care they are offered when they stay.

Boarders Response:Thank you Sue for your wonderful review on Hutches. Both Ken and I try our best to ensure the animals in our care are happy and enjoy their home from home holiday. We do our best to offer you peace of mind while you are away and as you know we are only a text or telephone call away if you want to check up on how they are doing. So pleased you are happy to let Ken and I take care of Twinkle and her guinea pigs siblings while you are away. Thank you for being a Hutches Friend/Owner. Ken and Joanne

Hutches looked after my male rabbit Oscar for 2 weeks recently. They took great care of him and he's in fine fettle after his visit. He's a bit of a handful but Ken was able to handle him without any bother. They are extremely knowledgeable and gentle with the rabbits and guinea pigs. It's a very nice setting and they move the animals outside in the grasssy runs each days if requested and if weather permits. I will have abslolutely no hesitation in using Hutches next time we go away.

Boarders Response:Hi Glenn and Oscar. Thank you very much for leaving such a lovely and factual review of Hutches. Ken and I are so very pleased you will be bringing Oscar for future holiday's. He is a very nervous rabbit with everything he has been through and with plenty of gentle handling is going to be an absolute superstar of a bunny. Both Ken and I said he was a sweet and caring rabbit and will gain confidence in humans each and every day. Oscar really enjoyed playing outside and getting his cuddle time from Ken. Thank you Glenn for being such a kind and caring owner to Oscar and thanks for letting us care for him. Joanne and Ken

Me and my partner were unhappy with thier ability to follow basic instructions on feeding and care requirements. We came home to a lot off issues and were not sent any update or photos during our pets stay other than to say they were fine in a brief message after asking how everything was. Too many animals taken on here with very old fashioned views on care needs.

Boarders Response:Hi Stephen/Lisa. As only Lisa came to visit Hutches prior to her pets arrival and she was really pleased with everything Hutches had to offer! Ken and I are really unsure where your terrible review has come from? In the 16 years that Hutches has been open we have never had such a scathing review! We always encourage new owners to come for a viewing to give them peace of mind prior to bringing their pets to Hutches so we can discuss what are the pets needs and so new owners can discuss any questions they may have about their pets stay. We do state on the visit and at the arrival "You can call, text or email to see how your pets are getting along while you are away". We also state that we will not contact you while you are away unless it is an emergency "No News is Good News". If a pet is using medication we always check the dose and dose times. Lisa stated her pets had no current health issues. You stated too many animals! Out of our 50 hutches only 6 hutches were in use!

I've boarded our guinea pigs at Hutches for roughly 10 years. That in itself must give a clue to how good Hutches is. Joanne takes the welfare of the guinea pigs and rabbits very seriously, and over the years has bought new hutches and expanded from one outhouse to add two new sheds that can board our pets. They are well looked after, look forward to having a holiday with their Aunty Joanne, and are happy and content there. I really can't find fault with Hutches and would recommend them to anyone.

Been sending our two rabbits for many years and have been getting the most expert care. The owner is so dedicated to the animals it's unbelievable. Our rabbits will be going back every holiday. :)

5 From Ruth on

Our Lion Head rabbit Leo has been a regular boarded with Joanne over the last 3 years. Joanne provides a home from home experience for small animals. Hutches has been upgrading their facilities ever year to provide a safe, clean environment. Having care provided for our rabbit by Joanne gives us peace of mind that while we are on our holiday, Leo is having a holiday to! I would highly recommend Hutches to boarders.

5 From Shona Leonard on

Joanne has been looking after my rabbits since 2007. I've also adopted guinea pigs looking for a new forever home. Joanne has a genuine love of animals, is very knowledgeable and provides an excellent home from home setting. You can be reassured that your pets are receiving first class care whilst you are on holiday. I would have no hesitation in recommending Joanne to anyone who is looking for holiday boarding or advice.
