Kim’s Reptile Retreat, in Burwell, Cambridge. A small Reptile Boarding facility. welfare-first specialist reptile boarding. With over 15 + years hands-on experience caring for reptiles, and a lifetime of caring for animals of all kinds, your pets are treated as family, not just bookings.

I’m animal first aid trained, DBS checked, and fully insured, offering calm, knowledgeable care with regular updates, careful monitoring, and emergency vet support if needed. I specialise in reptiles providing attentive, species-appropriate care in a safe, settled environment.

My priority is simple: your pets stay safe, comfortable, and well cared for — and you enjoy complete peace of mind while you’re away.

Accommodation:

We offer a specialist reptile boarding service, after recognising a real lack of knowledgeable, welfare-first reptile care in our local area. Your small reptile family members are boarded indoors at our family home, in a quiet, newly built reptile hotel in our garden. Fitted out with brand new species appropriate enclosures, which are all thermostatically controlled. With the correct UVB for your reptile species and away from the hustle and bustle of family life and our own pets. Our enclosures are fully equipped setup’s including thermostats, basking areas, climbing and resting spaces, and species-appropriate enrichment. We currently offer setups suitable for bearded dragons, chameleons, crested geckos, anoles, small breed or baby tortoises, and other small reptiles.

We are a small, low-capacity boarding service, deliberately limiting numbers to reduce stress and minimise the risk of illness.

Our dogs are kept completely separate from boarding areas, and hygiene and biosecurity are a top priority. Your reptile’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing always come first.

Your reptiles aren’t just boarded here — they’re carefully cared for.

Exercise:

We guide our exercise structure by the clients wishes and pets abilities, health and breed. So if your bearded dragon loves a snuggle, or to stretch its legs outside on warm sunny days we will do this with pleasure.

Your tortoise will have access to an outside run, with options to explore such as a digging box and forage for weeds freshly collected.

Not all reptiles like to be handled, if your reptile doesn't we will respect its preferences!

Health & Hygiene:

Any health problems must be reported to us before your pets care starts. This can affect the decision of your pet coming to us, due to the safety and welfare of our other guest! All our equipment, housing, utensils, bowls, and areas are completely cleaned and sanitised after each boarder, making it as safe for your pet as possible!

There is no size fits all with prices for boarding your pet(s) Please contact us for prices, which vary due to the pet or pet(s) their requirements and length of stay with us.

We offer a premium service with the care and the accommodation we provide, now and in the future.
We give peace of mind and an outstanding boarding experience, giving you the chance to enjoy your holidays with family & friends.

Added benefits are:
Your reptile will be 24/7 cared for, as accommodation is at our family home.

Your pet will have the option of getting out of its enclosure, species appropriate, to explore and get enrichment. Always with me, never left on their own!

We run a tight ship, cleanliness is extremely important to us, so daily maintenance is performed, safety checks on heating, humidity, and other essential maintenance.

We also send you daily updates of a message and photos & videos allowing you to see how your pet is settling in, how they are eating, their health and wellbeing.

We also offer a pick up & drop off service for our clients boarding their pet with us. This is if you live within a 15 mile radius to our boarding facility. For clients that may have difficulty getting their pet to us and back again after their pets stay. We charge £0.50 per mile and a small fee of £12 for our staffs time.

This is similar to what your arboreal VIP would stay in if boarding with us. This is Bob the Bearded Dragon, he has been boarding with us for 5 days, and was an absolute treasure. Kim is so friendly and caring. She has been like a fairy god mother to my little Bing who is only a 2.5 month old rankins dragon.In the 5 days she had him, she got him eating and gaining weight. Spending time with Kim has made him more confident. Not hiding as much. What I love about her is the daily photos and videos of Bing that she shared with us! She showed him eating, exploring and posing too! It felt like I had him with me all along while I was on holiday but giving him royal care. She also went the extra mile by not only giving me good advice on caring for a baby reptile but actually going to her local reptile shop and getting me some important equipment and enrichment to ensure his welfare. Who does that these days?! I am so grateful 🙏. Your pet is in good hands with her. I just wish she was local to me! I still reach out to her via phone and WhatsApp for advice and she is always available to help. A Superstar in my eyes!
