About our Small Pet Boarding

We board: RabbitsGuinea PigsBirdsReptilesHamsters, Mice etc.Ferrets

.Small pet boarding centre,, someone attending at all times, friendly, experienced keepers in all livestock. previously worked as veterinary nurse, assisted in all care including surgery,and have given courses. plus have over 40 years experience in animal husbandry ,licensed animal microchipper. and kept/keep and bred numerous types of exotics,rodents. farm animals,horses, and currently keep alpacas.wallabys.mara.skunks,ferrets,tarantulas, horses terrapins tortoises.snakes rats,pigs,sheep.goats,mice ,Emu's rhea etc We are happy to take all pets including rats and mice, and we will take ferrets. exotics welcome, skunks, pygmy hedgehogs, tarantulas tortoises,reptiles etc. We can also take chickens, pigs ponies, .etc. Leave your pet with confidence, all year round boarding, open 365 days a year, we can take short notice bookings, if we have space.Fresh fruit and veg fed daily fresh meadow hay,.and most specialist hard feed supplied. if we dont supply the brand you use this must be supplied. For rabbits and Guinea pigs we supply burgess excel if they are in another brand this to must be supplied enough for their stay. we are quite flexible and will help out with your needs, please note your pet will be checked on arrival any pets that look poorly or have a condition will be discussed at the time and may be left in our quarantine department,we can also give any meds or injections during their stay..at cost. PLEASE NOTE we will not accept any pets that have a condition that may be contagious,,, please contact for any details and more info,! email for details . PLEASE NOTE,all rabbits must be vaccinated inc for the new strain RVHD2, your vax card must be shown at time of dropping off your pets or emailed prior to drop off. We are extremely busy and although we can text updates of your pets while you are away but we do not send photos or video calls.. thank you.

Accommodation:

All small domestic pets are housed in large indoor cages, rabbits/guinea pigs have large 6 ft indoor hutches (see pictures.) .video can be sent. For small pets we only take 12 boarders at a time in our boarding room, to ensure they get our full attention...poultry and larger animals have outdoor pens, our main boarding room is unheated. So please make sure you advise us at the time of booking if you have house pets as they will need heated space during winter months
If you don't state you need heated space your pets will be booked in for normal boarding room. . Obviously hamsters reptiles etc have heated space all year round.

Exercise:

As they are larger hutches we feel this is adequate for their exercise needs while they are staying, for safety and hygeine purposes no outside/grass runs are available. as we only house in areas that can be disinfected between boarders and this cant be done in grass runs, so avoiding cross infection and any viruses
although we dont do outside runs we have a giant run in stable where they will go for an explore and play each day.

Health & Hygiene:

all cages bowls and equipment are cleaned with virkon after each boarder, rabbits are sprayed regularly as a fly strike preventitive and is charged at £1 per rabbit per stay.,

Small Pet Boarding Prices

Prices vary from pet to pet and if your pets are housed together, POA, prices start FROM £6 per day.

There is a £20 deposit (non refundable) at the time of booking,paid by bank transfer. and our minimum charge is £20 for shorter stays, Short notice bookings taken if we have spaces.. rates are per 'day' and includes the day of dropping off and picking up. PLEASE NOTE
the balance is payable in cash on the day of dropping your pets off, due to people collecting pets and not making payment , pets cannot be left unless full payment is made on arrival..we no longer accept cheques due to many being returned. Also if you drop off later or pick up your pet early, the days booked will still be charged for. Bookings cancelled with less than 24 hours notice must be paid for in full. ,please note booking enquiries will be held open for 24 hours if a deposit is not paid within that time the booking will be cancelled as we will take it it is no longer required, , all pets must arrive in a secure pet carrier,please do not bring them in cages, cardboard boxes or being carried,please make sure the carrier has sufficient litter to avoid your pet being urine soaked on arrival,and do not bring bowls and water bottles as these are supplied, any toys/beds you bring for your pet is left at your own risk. also PLEASE NOTE if your pet is a house pet please make sure you ask at the time of booking for heated space as in winter pets cannot be taken from a warm house and put in an unheated outbuilding.. also we have had some cases of long haired guinea pigs arriving with matted and knotted hair,and rabbits with stuck up back ends with feaces,this is unnacceptable and holiday booked or not these will no longer be accepted.

Services: GroomingClaw Clipping

If you want nail clipping done while your pet is boarding please state this when booking in cost is £3 per pet. we also do ivermec (mite)treatment for guinea pigs .,if any meds need administering this can be done @£1 per medication administered.. We can do injections. .rates depending on type of meds. Ask for prices
we also cater for the larger pet, such as goats, pet pigs etc, all on our 7 acre holding.All pets must arrive in a secure pet carrier,which you will leave with your pet,.do not bring cages unless arranged prior to dropping off. PLEASE READ ALL MY TERMS BEFORE BOOKING IN AS THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS,THANK YOU

Thanks for looking after rmy Rabbit and 6 Guinea pigs , arrived back from my holiday today to some very content pets,. Just got them home and are all happy. When we unexpectedly needed to find temporay accomodation for our 6’ black throat monitor lizard we struggled to find anywhere suitable until we found Toggles!! We were pleased to find that there were spacious, properly heated vivariums, correct UV, humidity , all carefully controlled. We had no qualms about leaving Rex there. He had a wonderful stay and from what i hear he behaved himself. Haha. Thank you so much. Not the easiest creature to find boarding for. 🤗

just picked up my ferrets from toggles. what a lovely place, lots happy animals,the lambs that came to greet me were adorable. my ferrets which i only recently purchased, had a spacious cage and toggle was very knowledgeable and was able to answer a few questions i had on how to keep them healthy and well cared for, i will definately be taking them back next holiday,, thanks toggle

We were worried about leaving our 2 bunnies at boarding for the first time but they happy, healthy and content when we picked them up and had obviously been well cared for. The journey was the only stressful part. We have just booked for a second time with Toggles and can go away on holiday safe in the knowledge our bunnies will be well cared for.

We boarded our guinea pigs, hamster and parrot with Carol and were more than satisfied. Good fascilities, excellent care.We found Carol to be very experienced in the care of all animals. We boarded our two guinea pigs, Bubble and Squeak, with Toggles for two weeks last summer and have just booked them in again for this year. We were very happy with the care our pets received last time, Carol is very caring and we would definitely recommend Toggles to anyone looking for quality pet care.

Carol looked after our 19 rabbits (a selection of breeds from Giants, Rex, Mini and Frenchies) while we were on holiday for 18 days. I cannot praise her enough as all my bunnies young and old have been returned to me in the best of health. I would not hesitate to leave them at Toggle again as they have obviously had a very good experience and have returned very happy and contented. The facilities are good safe and secure and all had plenty of space hay straw love and attention. We are in Bowerheath on a unclassified road running between common lane and Bowerheath Lane. The best way is from the lower Luton Road up the B652 Bowerheath Lane,turn right immediately after Kingsheath mobile home park, sign saying Bowerheath. we are the entrance on right, after four oaks farm, clearly saying THISTLEDOWN FARM on both sides of the fence.if you get to large solid wooden gates youve gone to far.if you cant find me then please ring for directions,please do not disturb my neighbours asking directions.and please make sure you are at correct address again so as not to disturb my neighbours There is no bell iand the gate is locked if you cant see anyone please ring me, but if you are expected then someone will be there.

Open Hours

We deal with bookings and enquiries in business hours. between 9am and 6pm, contact by phone text or email only, NOT WHATSAPP.. any contact outside these hours will not be dealt with.Dropping off and picking up pets is strictly by appointment only, within the following times only. Summer times,april to oct. Sundays 12 to 2, Mondays to Fridays 1.30pm to 5 pm,,Saturdays 10am-4pm..Winter times (times change on date clocks change) Nov to March, hours Sundays 10. 30 to 2pm- . Mon to Fri's 1.30.pm to 4.30pm and Sats 10am to 4pm public holiday days such as Bank hol mondays etc 1.30 to 4 only.. please note if you turn up ( without first making an appointment within these times) we will be unable to help you..please read all my terms, conditi{ons and opening times as by law I have to abide by them with NO exceptions.. PLEASE NOTE, due to some people not paying,we will not be able to accept your pet unless payment is made in full on arrival.
We are open 365 days of the year, but no dropping off or collection on Christmas eve/ day/ boxing day, new years day or easter sunday,.after booking in your pet, you will be required to contact us the day prior to dropping off to arrange a suitable time. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO ARRANGE A DROPPING OFF TIME.please make sure your holiday / travel plans fit within my times for dropping off your pets, Please do not expect me to open after hours, if you are delayed on returning from your holiday,you will have to pick up your pet the following day, thank you.
