About our Small Pet Boarding

I provide professional, loving care for your small pets when you go on holiday, into hospital etc.
Long term, short term, short notice ... just ask.

I am fully insured and have an enhanced disclosure.

I am an ex-volunteer for my local animal welfare organisation where I helped care for small animals and walked dogs.
I volunteered two days a week for one year.

I am registered with Vets4Pets in Hamilton and Clyde Vets in Wishaw. They are very experienced and knowledgeable with all small furries.

This is not a huge profit making business, I do it because I love it. Most of my profit goes towards toys, food, cages, runs and maintaining my existing pet accommodation.

Accommodation:

Guinea pigs will be allocated a large cage in my fully insulated pet shed for the duration of their holiday.
I have accommodation indoors for colder weather.

All cages and runs are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected regularly during your pet's holiday.

PLEASE NOTE ... I never mix different owner's pets with each other. The only pets that share a cage/run are from the same owner and are already bonded.

Hamsters, gerbils etc will board indoors and will have to provide their own accommodation.

Please bring your pet to me in a suitable pet carrier.
If I need to take them to the vet, then I will need this to transport them.

Exercise:

Your pet's normal routine will be discussed and adhered to as much as possible.

Health & Hygiene:

Feeding to your pet's usual routine, if possible.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, upon discussion.
Attention and handling daily.

I have several requirements in terms of health to protect other animals and your own animals.

If any animal shows signs of illness I reserve the right to not accept your pet for boarding.
Any medical conditions must be discussed with me, prior to boarding.
Animals will be health checked daily.

I am comfortable with administering medication.

*** IMPORTANT ***
Please do NOT bring pets to me with dirty, matted bottoms.
I will certainly keep an eye on such things during their holiday, and I will happily clean them up and keep them fresh, but please make sure that they are clean and hygienic prior to boarding, thanks.

Small Pet Boarding Prices

Guinea pigs ...

£12.00 per day
£14.00 per day for two pets who share a cage

Hamsters, gerbils etc ...

£3.00 per day (per cage)

Full payment is due on or before arrival day.

One, two and three day stays.

I am more than happy to board your pets for one, two, or three days.
However, because of the work and cost involved preparing accommodation, providing bedding, hay etc and then deep cleaning when they check out, I have a minimum of a four day policy so you will be charged for four days.
During June and July I have a minimum seven day policy so even if your pet is here for a few days, you will be charged for seven.
These are my busiest months and I can't afford to turn away a potential booking for a fortnight for example, because a pet is using the accommodation for a few days only.

HOURS OF BUSINESS (for dropping off and/or collecting pets)

Monday - Saturday (8am - 8.30am)
Sunday - (10am - 11am)

If these times don't suit you, please do ask and we will sort something out.

*** IMPORTANT ***

I can be flexible with drop off and collection times, however, once a time is arranged, please be punctual.
I may have other customers coming and going, I may have family commitments, I might have a dental/doctor appointment and other things going on.
If you are late, you could run the risk of no-one being here.
Please allow for traffic, weather etc.

*** IMPORTANT ***
There seems to be a "trend" at the moment of customers turning up 30-40 minutes earlier than their appointment time.
Please don't do this.
Although I am running a small business, this is also my family home and I may have commitments outwith your appointment time.
If you do turn up early, please wait in your car or call me to see if it's convenient to drop your pets off early.

Other Services

Guinea pigs nails will be checked upon arrival and will be trimmed if necessary (with owner's permission)
Please let me know if you wish your guinea pigs to be bathed during their holiday with me.
Nail trimming is free.
