Hi, I’m Emmalie, the owner of Rutland Small Animal Boarding, based in Uppingham, Rutland.

I’m passionate about small animals and wanted to create a safe, comfortable and caring home-from-home for rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals while their owners are away.

Whilst Rutland Small Animal Boarding is specifically set up to accommodate rabbits and guinea pigs, I’m also happy to consider boarding other small animals on an individual basis. If your pet requires different or specialist accommodation, this would need to be provided by you from home. Each enquiry will be considered individually to ensure I can safely and appropriately meet your pet’s needs during their stay.

As a small home-based boarding facility, I’m able to give each pet individual attention and make sure their routine and needs are looked after throughout their stay. I understand how important it is to leave your pets somewhere you can trust, so I aim to provide owners with peace of mind knowing their pets are being well cared for.

I welcome both short and longer stays and am happy to accommodate individual dietary requirements, routines and medication where needed.

Accommodation:

Your rabbit or guinea pig will have their own clean, secure and comfortable accommodation, designed with their welfare and comfort in mind.

Multiple rabbits are accommodated in spacious two or three-storey hutches with ramps between levels, while guinea pigs and single rabbits have spacious 6ft single-storey hutches.

Each accommodation is thoroughly cleaned and prepared between guests, with fresh bedding and hay provided. You're also welcome to bring familiar items from home to help your pet settle in and make their stay as comfortable as possible.

I keep numbers small so that I can provide plenty of individual care and attention to every guest.

Exercise:

Where weather conditions allow, rabbits and guinea pigs have access to a secure outdoor run on fresh grass during the day.

Exercise and outdoor time are provided in a safe and supervised environment, giving your pet the opportunity to explore, stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh air and grass.

During particularly hot or unsuitable weather, I will adjust outdoor time accordingly and prioritise your pet's comfort and safety.

Health & Hygiene:

Your pet's health and wellbeing are my top priority.

All accommodation is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between guests to maintain a high standard of hygiene.

Every pet receives daily welfare checks, with their eating, drinking, behaviour and general wellbeing monitored throughout their stay. Fresh hay and water are provided daily, along with vegetables as appropriate to their usual diet.

I am also happy to administer medication where required, provided clear instructions are supplied.

If I have any concerns about your pet's health during their stay, I will contact you promptly.

Small Pet Boarding Prices

Rabbits: £10 per day, +£1.50 per additional sharing rabbit (up to 3)
Guinea pigs: £8 per day, +£1 per additional sharing guinea pig
Other small animals: Price on request

Prices are charged per day, including the day of arrival and the day of collection.

A £20 deposit is required to secure your booking. The deposit is non-refundable, but can be transferred to a future booking if at least two weeks' notice is provided.

The remaining balance is due on the day your pet arrives.

There is a minimum stay of 2 days, with both short and longer stays welcome.
