About our Small Pet Boarding

Avian Retreats offers premier boarding services exclusively for our feathered friends in Sussex. Our facility provides a safe and comfortable haven for birds of all sizes and breeds, from canaries to macaws, while their owners are away. With attentive staff and personalized care, we ensure that every bird enjoys a stress-free retreat tailored to their individual needs. Whether it's a short getaway or an extended vacation, Avian Retreats is committed to providing peace of mind for both birds and their devoted owners.

Accommodation:

For our parrot guests, we offer deluxe accommodation in a single, insulated, double-glazed, and heated bird room, ensuring optimal comfort year-round. This cozy space is equipped with its own flat-screen TV for entertainment. Within the room, spacious cages are provided, allowing plenty of room for movement and enrichment activities outside of the cage. Additionally, we're in the final stages of constructing a 24-foot outdoor aviary, where the birds can stretch their wings and soak up essential UV rays during the warmer months. At Avian Retreats, we prioritize the well-being and happiness of our avian guests, providing them with the utmost care and amenities for a truly enjoyable stay.

Exercise:

Our avian guests will have ample opportunities for exercise and enrichment during their stay at Avian Retreats. If the birds are able to come out of their cages, we prioritize providing them with at least 2 hours of supervised out-of-cage time each day. During this time, they can explore and play within the bird room and main house, engaging in activities that stimulate their physical and mental well-being. Additionally, we offer short training sessions, with the owner's permission, to keep their minds sharp and foster positive interactions. As the weather warms, our outdoor aviary provides the perfect space for the birds to stretch their wings, bask in natural sunlight, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. At Avian Retreats, we believe in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for our feathered guests, ensuring they return home happy and revitalized.

Health & Hygiene:

At Avian Retreats, the health and well-being of our avian guests is our top priority. We require all parrot guests to provide proof of recent testing for Avian Borna Virus (ABV), PBFD/psittacine beak and feather disease, and Psittacosis/Chlamydiosis to ensure the safety of all our guests.

In addition to strict hygiene practices within our accommodation, such as daily cleaning and sterilization of food and water bowls and providing fresh newspaper daily, we offer fresh chopped fruits and vegetables every morning at no extra cost to provide essential nutrition. To minimize stress, we request that owners provide their parrots' preferred pellets or seed mix. By allowing owners to provide familiar food, we ensure that our guests remain comfortable and healthy throughout their stay at Avian Retreats.

Here's the price list for Avian Retreats:

Small Sized Birds (canary size to Budgie):

£6 per 24 hours
Additional birds in the same cage: £2 per bird

Medium Sized Birds (Cockatiel size to Senegal):

£12 per 24 hours
Additional birds in the same cage: £2 per bird

Large Sized Birds (African Grey to Larger Macaw species):

£18 per 24 hours
