About our Home Boarding

I started offering small animal boarding around 9 years ago for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters etc and also home visits for animals that prefer to stay in their own home such as cats, hens etc. I then started to offer a service 8 years ago for dog boarding in our own home where dogs can come and stay with us as part of our family. We own a chocolate Labrador and a Golden Labrador ourselves and all we ask is that your dog is friendly with other dogs, neutered (if old enough), fully vaccinated and house-trained.
I have qualifications in Dog Psychology, Dog Behaviour and animal First Aid.

Accommodation:

We live in a Victorian house with large gardens and attached woodland with secure boundaries all around which is great for all dogs to run around (or potter depending on age) in and explore.

Exercise:

Dogs are exercised twice daily either on local walks or with owner's permission we take them to woodland, moorland and a nature reserve just 5 minutes drive away. We tailor your dogs walk to suit their fitness/age etc.
We will only let your dogs off their lead if you have signed a disclaimer to allow us to do this.

Health & Hygiene:

All dogs are fed separately and if staying overnight with us sleep in separate rooms. We can crate your dog at night if this is what they are used to at home. We ask owners to bring their own food (to avoid upset tummies) and their own bedding so that they have something familiar with them. We do ask to see written proof of up to date vaccinations. We are happy to administer oral medication when necessary.

Home Boarding Prices

Our charges are £28.00 per day (or part thereof) for day/overnight stays. For small animal boarding the charges are £10.00 per hutch per day for either guinea pigs or rabbits. Nail clipping available at £7.00 per animal.
Home visits for cats, dogs, rabbits, puppy visits, chickens etc £12.00 per 30 minute visit.
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
50% payment due for cancellations 60 days prior to booking.
100% payment due for cancellations 30 days prior to booking.

Other Services

We offer Holiday Home Boarding and Dog Daycare (subject to availability) in the comfort of our own home. Home visits available for cats, hens, birds etc. Holiday cover for rabbits, guinea pigs etc.

We have just had our Westie, Teddy, stay there for a week. This was because we do not want him to be caged up in kennels. We received daily photos of him, evidently enjoying the break. This service was perfect, so much so we have already booked him in for when we next go on holiday and our intention is to use Bush Boarding always. Perfect experience, highly recommended!

Our dog Bailey has stayed at Bush Boarding just prior to Christmas. It was his first ever overnight stay away from us , he absolutely loved it. We were sent regular photos/ updates of how he was getting on which gave us great piece of mind. He was happy there and loved exploring their big garden. Mandy was supportive and gave me advice on several occasions regarding his diet and behaviour We will definitely be using Bush boarding in the future

We normally use kennels but because it was a winter holiday we couldn't bear to think he might be cold and lonely. I searched the internet for dog boarders and found Mandy. All the reviews were brilliant so I contacted her and explained our situation, that because of Covid the holiday would be very last minute until we got our Covid test result. Nothing was too much trouble and Mandy was very flexible. We met up with her and straight away our dog seemed happy, so that immediately made us feel at ease. Alfie was with Mandy for 15 days and we received regular photos and updates of how he was doing. We never worried once about how he was being cared for. On picking him up he was obviously excited to see us but we could clearly see that he had bonded with Mandy and her husband. He had obviously loved it and we will always take him to Mandy from now on. Just wish I had known about her before now. He was treated as part of her family and we will never use kennels again. We highly recommend Mandy's boarding service.

Our two dogs stayed with Mandy for two weeks in October 2019 and had a fabulous time. When we got home they were happy and healthy and tired doggies so had obviously had a really good time! We had regular contact through our holiday so we knew they were safe and happy. We will definitely be asking Mandy to doggy-sit again!

Our dogs absolutely love it here! Mandy and Simon are great with them. We drop them off happy and pick them up happy. We would definitely recommend Bush Boarding.

We have been going to Bush Boarding for 2 years with Bailey our 3 year old Labrador. It is quite obvious from the moment you enter their home that Mandy and Simon love animals. They treat each boarder as part of their family. Bailey has just spent nearly 4 weeks at Bush Boarding and you can tell he has loved every minute of it, and always enjoys returning. 5 star boarding at its very best

A friend recommended Mandy, Bush Boarding and we're so glad they did! Our gentle giant Alan loves it and we feel happy when he stays there. I was so anxious about leaving him before we met Mandy and now I know that he is well cared for and happy when he's at Bush Boarding. Alan is such a sociable dog and there's always friends there for him to play with and he loves the walks, which definately tire him out - which is no mean feat for a big, bouncy labradoodle. Highly recommended!

Oscar loves vacationing at Mandy's. He enjoys meeting all the other dogs, exploring the enclosed garden and snoozing on the sofa watching TV. He wishes he could have more holidays.

My daft collie Belle has been going to Mandy's for the last three years and is booked in for three breaks during the coming year. I have always felt happy to leave Belle in the knowledge that she will be well looked after in a homely environment. She gets well exercised and always seems to look at home when I go to pick her up. I would recommend her to any dog owner.

I leave my dog regularly with Mandy & Simon. He loves his doggy holidays at Bush Boarding. When I got him, I vowed I would never put him in kennels, but Mandy & Simon look after him in their home as though he were their own, and I have no qualms about leaving him in their care. When I drop him off, he can't wait to get in to their house, and scampers off to see who else is staying! He comes home happy, clean and well cared for. I would not leave him anywhere else.

Lenny has stayed with Mandy and her family several times and always enjoys himself in the homely atmosphere, coming home well exercised. He doesn't get anxious or stressed staying here and drags us up the path for a good sniff around before we leave him. Highly recommend Bush Boarding, but please don't book during the weeks we need!!! lol

Our Westie Charlie stayed at Bush Boarding for 1 week last month. Mandy took such good care of our dog offering a home from home environment. She sent regular photos of Charlie clearly having a great time and thoroughly making himself at home! I have no hesitation in recommending Bush Boarding to anyone who wants to have peace of mind knowing their beloved pet is being so very well cared for.

My dog Chester is a chocolate Labrador with incredible energy. He has been coming to Bush Boarding since being a pup at 6 months and we have tried other boarders unsuccessfully and I have to say he absolutely loves it here. As we drive to the gate he gets very excited and runs up the path to be with his friends. Highly recommended!

Jenson our cockapoo is a regular visitor to Bush Boarding. He loves the home from home feel along with great walks and lots of cuddles. We know he has a great holiday every time x

A perfect home from home environment where your dog becomes part of the family for their little holiday away. Thanks

I have two dogs. They spent 3 wks in February 2017 and 5 days in October 2017. I was worried about leaving my dogs when i travelled to New Zealand but Mandy was so kind and professional. Mandy asked.lots of questions about my dogs feeding etc. In October I left Ruby with a sore on her tummy and antibiotics. I was worried but Mandy assured me she would take Ruby back to vets if necessary. They had a pre visit with me there too for a short time before their first boarding.I instantly knew my two would.be well cared for until my return. They have two good walks everyday with Mandy and Simon. They settled well photos Mandy posted on facebook showed me they were happy. I wouldn t leave them anywhere else.

We have a rehomed Westie and we would never put him in kennels due to his nature. He absolutely loves Bush Boarding, he is happy and treats it as his second home. Mandy treats him as though he is her own dog and part of her family, he is happy to see her when we drop him off and happy and exhausted when we pick him up. We would whole heartedly recommend Bush Boarding as an excellent place for your dog to stay, no hesitation in recommending it to any family who loves their dog.

We have used Bush Boarding twice now & both times Ruby our Gernan Pointer has come back home very happy & fit , we met the Bush's out on a local walk & Ruby was so...excited to see them ! She obviously is very well looked after in a friendly home environment & will be going again very soon! Strongly recommend 😍

We took our rabbit cookie to bush boarding when we went on holiday in July not only did we have a nice holiday Cookie also did and met their rabbit pepper along the way excellent.

We knew our Golden Retriever Bella would never cope in standard Kennels so send her to Bush Boarding. She loves it and is literally a home away from home for her. Mandy takes great care of her as if she was her own dog. She also knows that Bella has bad hips so will only give her steady walks and adapts to the needs of your dog. We wouldn't send Bella anywhere else and have used many times the past 12 months. You want to have peace of mind that your dog is going to be looked after and with Mandy you get that.

5 From Liam Calland on

Our young dog clearly had a good time and she loved Mandy! The house is relaxed and a perfect home-from-home.

5 From Heather on

Annie has become a regular boarder with Mandy at Bush Boarding. Annie is always eager to get out of the car and into the house and go exploring. I can leave her in the confidence that she will be well looked after, have a great time on walks and not miss me at all.

5 From Janet on

Our experience of Home boarding our dogs at Bush Boarding has been excellent. Mandy Bush has an inherent natural talent on how to care for and communicate with dogs. She has a very significant wide knowledge and understanding of all types of dogs. We highly recommend Bush Boarding.

5 From Paul & Brenda Monkman on

Our lively golden retriever has stayed with Mandy on two occasions and is booked in next month for a week. The second time she stayed with Mandy she ran into the house, tail wagging and very excited to be back. She obviously felt very comfortable there and it was very reassuring to know our cherished pet was going to be happy on her holiday too. We feel very lucky to have found Mandy and her family to look after our pet for us.

Olive had a great time last week on her first holiday at Bush Boarding. Mandy sent us a photo of Olive whilst we were away. We have already booked her in for another holiday.

After days of internet exploring and viewing other home kennel/boarding, I came across Mandy and Simon (my saviours). Went to visit and knew immediately this was my little puppies temporary home whilst we went away for a week. Mickey had a ball, doggie holiday with knew fiends, lots of walks and even sleeps on the Sofa. Before leaving booked him in for next holiday. They are fab, so friendly and knowledge.

Very anxious first time leaving our little puppy Teddy with Mandy. But there was no need for worry, Mandy is lovely and looked after Ted like he was her own, kept us updated (which put me at ease) and Ted loved it, making new furry friends. He knows where he is going now as we approach the house, gets all excited. Can't ask for more really. Highly recommend and we won't board him anywhere else now.

5 From Caroline on

Ella our Labrador has stopped with Mandy and Simon 4 times now and would probably like to go more often ! Our holidays are now worry-free knowing Ella is in having a great time with the best possible care. I would totally recommend this home from home to all dog lovers.

Its a year since Holly first stayed with Mandy and Simon, since then she has stayed another 4 times.I can leave her with total confidence knowing she is very well cared for, this is confirmed by Holly as she jumps out of the car and rushes up to the door, she cant wait to see her old friends and meet some new ones !

I left my 10 month old pug puppy Archie with Mandy while we went to Mexico for 2 weeks. I was nervous leaving him for the first time, but I shouldn't of worried. Mandy was great! She kept me updated with texts and photos as requested and he was well cared for while we were away. I would highly recommend Bush Boarding. I immediately booked Archie in again for our holidays next year as I know he will be in good hands!

5 From Joanne on

From the moment we met Mandy we knew it was the right environment for our puppy. We just got back off a 10 day holiday and our Pappi (his name, mot a typo!) a 10 month blond labrador has had an equally wonderful holiday. His boundless energy was no match for Mandy and her brood...the moment we saw him on pick up we knew he had had an awesome time. He looked miffed at having to leave!! 100% recommend Bush Boarding...excellent service and uber friendly. Definitely a 2nd home. Jennie

Our 9 month old Holly (cockapoo) had never been away from home before so we were rather anxious at leaving her for the weekend ! We had no need to worry ,she had a brilliant time and came back healthy and happy and very tired after all the long walks .She had obviously been loved and treated as one of the family , already booked in for her next visit . thankyou !

6 month old Harley stayed with Mandy and her family for a week from the 1st July 2014. We were slightly apprehensive leaving Harley with someone whilst we went on holiday but Harley loved it, he had plenty of long dog walks with his new friends, and he looked very sad when it was time to go home. Even managed to get Harley to sleep in past 5.30 in the morning and he was actually quite well behaved when he got home. Would definitely recommend and I will be getting Harley booked in for his next holiday xx

Archie stayed with Mandy in April. We had a pre-stay visit and Mandy was great with him which meant we were really happy to leave him. Mandy sent us a picture whilst we were away of Archie enjoying a walk in the woods which was great and very thoughtful. Will definitely be giving Archie another holiday there!

5 From Michala on

Met Mandy today for a pre boarding visit with my three little cavs. Lovely location and a lovely lady. Obviously a great animal lover too. So pleased to have found her, and she's really local too. I can now go on holiday with the peace of mind that my boys will be properly looked after in a family environment :)
