About our Home Boarding

Suzanne and Andy settled in Bridlington after working in rural France where they had two Golden Retrievers, sadly these lovely dogs have passed on.

Beach Happy Dogs was inspired by their love of canines and their interest in animal welfare and its first visitors arrived in December 2021. Since then the business has grown and is rated five stars by East Riding Council. A visit to our facebook page will give you a good idea of what happens at Beach Happy Dogs and you can read our reviews.

We specialise in small to medium dogs and although our Council License allows for three dogs we prefer to keep it to two.
We hold close the idea that each dog is an individual with specific needs and aim to make their stay with us as much fun as the owner’s own holiday.
We encourage owners to tell us as much as possible about their dogs and we insist on regular meet ups and a trial night before their stay.
We also ensure that the dogs meet up with their housemates before their holiday.
In return we send them regular reports and photos and videos of their pet’s adventures in Bridlington.

We advise owners to book well ahead as we do get very booked up particularly at peak times.

Accommodation:

Beach Happy Dogs is a secure and welcoming environment. Dogs have the free run of the ground floor, garden and shed (Andy's man cave!) where there is plenty of secure space for dogs to play and relax. We ensure there are plenty of nice beds and fluffy throws and most canines have little trouble finding somewhere to hunker down.
The dogs are welcome to bring their own beds and throw for the sofa as this can make them feel more secure while they are away from home.
As there is always someone with the dogs, their activities can be observed and harmony maintained. Naturally, we keep a wide selection of toys and ensure that there are enrichment activities for rainy days.
The garden is fully fenced and double gated, we also have security cameras for added safety.
The ground floor front room has a bed where one of us sleeps to ensure the dogs are monitored should any problems arise in the night

Exercise:

As each dog has different exercise needs, depending on age and breed, we tailor walks and exercise to the individual dog and its home routines. We never let dogs off the lead without the owners written consent.
Bridlington is blessed with many dog friendly spaces offering not only the beach but also nature walks within easy access of our premises. There is no shortage of good walking, good sniffing and stimulating places for your canine companion, Bridlington is a ball chasers and hole diggers paradise.
Sewerby Tops and the beach is a well known canine gathering spot for sociable pooches and easily accessible from our home for the dogs who like a good long walk.
Our walks can be as short as twenty minutes or longer than a couple of hours depending on the dog. We never walk our visitors in extreme heat!
We cater for the very old and have a doggy pushchair for the less mobile visitors who need a breath of sea air.
In accordance with East Riding Council regulations we do not use extending leads on our walks. We do, however, use biodegradable poo bags.

Health & Hygiene:

We keep dog welfare at the heart of our work and we encourage owners to give us as much information as possible about their dog’s health.
Firstly though, all dogs staying with us must have their vaccinations up to date and a give us a copy of their card for our records. Secondly, flea, tick and worming treatments need to be up to date.
Should your dog require medicines during our stay, we are happy to administer these on a vet’s recommendation. All medicines are kept out of reach and we keep records of when medications need to be administered. A canine first aid kit is easily accessible if needed.
We recommend that our visitors stick to their regular diet and we will make every effort to maintain your doggies eating regimen.
As the world is warming up we pay particular attention to hot weather and only exercise dogs in the early morning and after sunset during heatwaves. The front of the premises is shuttered in times of extreme heat to maintain lower temperatures.
Beach Happy Dogs is designed to be easily cleaned having hard flooring and minimal clutter. We keep a strict cleaning rota and aim for high standards of hygiene.
