Hi, my name’s Harriet and I own and run Honeysuckle House Cattery. I worked at Alnorthumbria Vets in Alnwick for 15 years prior to my new cattery venture. A few years before moving to Northumberland I worked at a Cattery for a number of years and it has always been the best “job” I’ve ever had. I love cats so much and I couldn’t live without one. I think I was a cat in a previous life 😻
We have 4 cat units in total. All units can accommodate a maximum of two cats from the same household. They are fully insulated and very smart. In the living quarters there is an oil-filler radiator which is thermostatically operated to ensure their bedroom is coat and warm all the time. We have additional pet-safe electric blankets too along with fluffy beds and blankets. Every unit has its own dimmable nightlight, a radio as well as a tablet to play films. There are ramps for the less mobile cat to help them access the shelves/beds. They can view outside from their living quarters as there is a double glazed window, which can be opened during the warmer months. They can access the covered run by their very own cat door and they have many shelves to perch upon or exercise on. The shelves lead them up to the “penthouse” where they can watch birds fly overhead through the skylight. In addition there is a scratching post and also a wall bed. Outside are bird feeders and a pond with a fountain to help with a little extra stimulation. Nights are never dark as dusk til dawn up&down lights are sited along the outside of the cattery. The cattery area is always securely locked and is not visible from the outside. For additional security we choose not to have a company sign however we live in a very rural and safe village.
Exercise is an important part of any cats stay so as well as the many shelves for them to exercise on and roam around the run and the penthouse we supply lots of toys and engage in play daily. A scratching post is also available for them to use.
Health and hygiene is no joke when it comes to looking after your beloved cat. We insist on all cats to be fully up-to-date with their vaccinations and to have been treated for fleas and worms prior to their stay. If any cat appears to be in poor health we reserve the right to refuse admission into the Cattery. All cats must be in good health when they stay with us. Any medical conditions must be declared. We are happy to administer any medication required to treat your cat.
With regard to the cat units, hygiene is extremely important. The walls and surfaces are all wipe clean and are disinfected with a specific pet-safe and vet-approved cleaning solution. The units, including the litter trays, are cleaned daily or more frequently if required.
We make a note of your cat’s health with our daily health and behaviour check and if we are concerned about anything we will organise a visit from our local vets, Morris and Plumley Vets in Alnwick.

I have known Harriet for some years and she has always been passionate about animals. We recently boarded our 2 cats with her for 6 nights and have been overwhelmed by her incredible care and attention. The accommodation was beautiful warm, clean, and spacious with climbing and hiding spots available and the ability to roam. Toys, TV, treats, favourite food and lots of cuddles as well as regular updates made Honeysuckle by far superior to any place we have used before. We felt confident our cats were content and happy the whole time we were away thank-you so much â¤ï¸ ðŸ¾

If you are looking for first class accommodation for your precious cat, this is it. Harriet went out of her way to ensure Mina was comfortable and well entertained. Mina is already booked in for her next holiday with Harriet meanwhile I can go on holiday confident that Mina is safe and being well and truly pampered.
