About our Boarding Kennel

The aim of our Doggy Hotel is to set new standards for dog boarding kennels by creating a dog centric environment staffed by a dedicated and caring team to ensure that the health, wellbeing and welfare of our canine guests come first and foremost.

By limiting the quantity of hotel suites to 7 Coalford Canine Retreat can ensure that every guest can get the individual care, attention and companion time that they deserve.

Accommodation:

We have 7 self-contained luxury suites comprising of five Standard Suites and two Executive Suites, each offering a light and spacious heated sleeping area. All suites maintain a domestic feel to create an atmosphere where every guests can relax in a stress fee environment. Each suite has state of the art thermostatically controlled infrared heating panels that allow the guests to choose a warm or cool spot to relax at any time of the day or night. All the suites have full-height, insulated walls creating a quiet, calm, balanced environment for the guests. The suites are finished with slip resistant vinyl flooring, wallpapered walls and all come complete with TV's and cosy beds.

All the suites have an exclusive 4m (13ft) long garden room, complete with dog friendly artificial grass in which the guests can relax and look out onto the garden and the fantastic countryside beyond. These garden rooms are covered and have been specifically orientated so that guests do not facing each other – research has proven that this can be the prime cause of stress in many boarding situations.

Exercise:

All guests are exercised 4 times daily.

Set in 3 acres of lush Aberdeenshire countryside Coalford Canine Retreat offers a totally self contained facility with extensive exercise amenities to provide a stimulating and enriching environment.

With acres of grounds for walks, play and exercise, all our guests are kept happy and enthused, whether they walk and play alone, in family groups, or in a pack of new friends.

The facilities cater for dogs of all ages and abilities from the highly energetic who have to be active through to the older generation who just love a gentle stroll through the woods or to chill out in the indoor play barn.

Leads are not a necessity at Coalford Canine Retreat as the recreational paddock, complete with sandpit activity area and sensory garden, is securely fenced allowing all our guests to run and play in freedom and safety.

For less strenuous forms of exercise there is a woodland area that is laced with paths for leisurely walks throughout the day.

The Templar Burn runs through the site so on hot summer days our guests can take a dip in the gently running water to cool off.

On days when the weather is not suitable for extended outdoor exercise there is an indoor barn than can be used for play and companion time. The barn is full of toys and acitivities for the more energetic guests while those wanting to relax can lounge around on the sofas and pillows.

Health & Hygiene:

To prevent stomach upsets and distress most guests prefer to maintain their current feeding regime we are happy to store and serve owner provided food for the duration of the guest's stay. Alternatively, we stock, and can provide, the highest quality dog food.
We do not stock raw food so guests must bring an adequate supply for the duration of their stay.

We are also more than happy to administer medication and/or food supplements in accordance with the owner's instructions.

At Coalford Canine Retreat we can provide everything the guest will require during their stay from raised beds to toys and feeding bowls but we do encourage owners to bring as much from home as possible to help the guests settle in.

Items such as beds, bedding, toys (all preferably unwashed) and any other items that smell of home - there is plenty of room and it really does help them get acquainted to their new environment.

The security and safety of guests is of paramount importance. At Coalford Canine Retreat we have CCTV cameras monitoring the site 24 hours per day.

With on site residential accommodation there are staff on duty 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
