My name is Christina and I started my boarding in 2010 due to being unable to find work. I have a level 1 NVQ in animal care and have owned animals all my life. I work on my own as my facilities are not very big.
I have a variety of accommodation both outside and indoors. Outdoors I have a number of 6’x2’x2’ hutches with attached runs for rabbits. I also have the same size hutches for guinea pigs. In the shed I have one 5’x5’ space for rabbits with a large, attached run. There are also two 5’x5’ guinea pig spaces. Indoors I have a dedicated animal room which can accommodate house rabbits. Guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, tortoises on their tables can all be accommodated here. I have several indoor guinea pig cages, but smaller animals will need to bring their own cages. Pre booking visits are welcome, however under current restrictions, only the outside accommodation can be viewed.
I have a safe section of garden that I can block off for rabbits to have a supervised hop around. I also have runs to put out guinea pigs on the grass when the weather is fine. They are carefully supervised when out of their hutches and will not be left out if there is no-one at home.
All animal accommodation is checked daily and cleaned out as necessary. Rabbits and guinea pigs are cleaned out completely at least every 3 days and spot cleaned in between. Animal safe disinfectants are used, and hutches allowed to dry between boarders. Rabbit owners are advised to have them vaccinated annually against Myxomatosis, Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease 1 (RHD1) and Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease2(RHD2). I do not insist on vaccination as I understand there are sometimes sound reason for not having this done, however, unvaccinated rabbits stay at the owner’s risk. My own two rabbits are vaccinated annually. I am happy to administer any medication that your pet requires if you provide written instructions. If I am concerned about your pet’s health during their stay, I will make every effort to contact you or your nominated contact. Depending on location, I will either take them to your own vet or to the vet that I am registered with.
Rabbits and Guinea pigs : £5 per hutch per day Hamsters/rats/mice, etc : £3.00 per cage per day. Small cage birds: £3.00 per day. Reptiles: £5 per day (you will need to bring your own vivarium / tortoise table.)
Please bring your pet’s normal dry food. Fresh veg, fruit and hay are provided daily, as appropriate. I do not require a deposit and do not charge for cancellations. I get very busy during school holidays so early booking is essential. I take payment by BACS, cheque or cash.
I am willing to do any grooming and claw clipping your animal requires when staying with me.
