About our Small Pet Boarding

Hi, I'm Carol and I've loved and cared for animals since I was around 9 years of age. I have shared my life with Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Hamsters, Mice, Birds, Hens as well as Cats and Dogs. I currently have 5 guinea pigs.

Just over 10 years ago, I left my job in an office to work with animals; dog walking, pet sitting and pet pop ins. I also obtained my City and Guilds Level 2 in dog grooming, which I did for some years, although now I just groom my guinea pigs. This is how I am confident in offering a mini groom for your piggies, if you'd like for them to have whilst they are staying on their holidays.

After trying to find somewhere locally for my own piggies to stay, whilst we went on holiday, and struggling to find somewhere that I thought would care for my piggies, as I would, a real 'home from home' I decided to set up Pip's House.

I am DBS checked and I am more than happy to provide references on request.

Accommodation:

I offer Guinea Pig boarding in an air conditioned/heated room within my house, in C&C grid style cages.

I offer 2 options for Rabbits. I have Pip's House which is a purpose built, fully insulated, air conditioned (or heated) lodge out in the garden, with their own access to their fenced off space in the garden, ideal for bunnies that live in an outdoor house.

I also offer internal boarding for House Rabbits, within their own room, where there they have their own 7 foot by 2.5 foot playpen.

Exercise:

Guinea pigs and rabbits will have separate access to an outdoor secure run each day for playtime or an indoor run around, if it is wet outside. I like to give lots of time throughout the day for cuddles and play. I have lots of different enrichment things for your pets to play with, depending on what sort of things they like to do.

I have lots of tunnels, hideys, and houses, as well as treat balls, treat paper bags and boxes. When they get tired of playing, they can have healthy snacks and treats.

I also have a small pet playpen with toys, for hamsters and gerbils to have a run around in.

Health & Hygiene:

I will provide them with lots of cuddles, and all their veg, fresh water twice daily and unlimited hay to lay in, and chomp on. I need you to bring their dried food so as not to affect their tummies. In the evenings, they'll have a turn down service before bedtime, when they'll have bed and hay changes ready to sleep in, and some lovely midnight forage, in case they get peckish in the night. I clean all the furries out twice a day - morning and evening, to keep their sitting areas dry and clean and fresh and restock all hay.

I am able to syringe feed, if required and keep a small first aid cupboard with essential items for small animals in it, regularly stocked. I use Acorn vets in Bedford, if needed, following consultation with yourself.

All pens and toys are fully cleaned and wiped down with pet safe disinfectant between each guest.

Small Pet Boarding Prices

I charge £7 a day for a pair of bonded Guinea Pigs,
£12.50 a day for Bunny Boarding (solo or bonded pair)
£5 a day for a hamster or pair of gerbils
£5 a day for caged birds
Please ask for a quote for multiple animals

A non refundable deposit is taken in advance for all bookings to secure your place. Full payment is required no later than one week before the animals are due to stay.
I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel a booking or the full payment will be taken.
Payment is directly into my bank account.

I offer a Piggy Pamper which for £12 for your pair of Piggies includes a wash, shampoo (I use Gorgeous Guineas brand), blow dry, hair style and cut, (if long haired), nail trim and paw pad softener (again from Gorgeous Guineas).
