About our Small Pet Boarding

We board: RabbitsGuinea PigsHamsters, Mice etc.

We are a small pet boarding service in Barton Seagrave in the heart of Northamptonshire providing holiday accommodation for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small furries.

Furry Friends Pet Hotel is run by Theresa whose childhood was spent growing up with animals on the family farm in Rutland. Having owned 5 rabbits of my own and with a constant love and great understanding of all creatures great and small, I have found it possible to create an excellent boarding service for your small pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small furries).

To enhance my already extensive skills and knowledge in looking after animals, I have undertaken Diplomas in Pet Nutrition and Pet Psychology which enable me to care for your pets in a more specialised way by recognising their nutrition and health requirements and understanding different behaviours.

We realise that people love their pets, so we will ensure that your pet is treated as if s/he was one of our own during their stay.

We are situated in a quiet area of the village with a fully secure, safe garden for your pets. We have an area of hardstanding for the hutches/runs and a grassy area which your pets can also enjoy if you wish. We also have a dedicated indoor room for use in the winter and/or if your pet prefers the indoors.

Your bunny will be staying in one of our hutches, maybe Peter's Penthouse or Cottontail's Cottage are just a couple of our comfortable 3ft - 10ft, single or two-tier hutches/runs that are available. Some of our two-tier hutches have runs attached or maybe your rabbit prefers the more conventional hutch with a day-room and separate sleeping compartment. Indoor and outdoor stays can be accommodated.

Runs can be made available on hardstanding or grass (subject to the owner’s wishes – see notes on our HEALTH page and Booking Form regarding Encephalatizoon Cuniculi) to provide your bunny with even more space to stretch his/her legs.

As rabbits’ tummies can be prone to upset should their diet change, we suggest you bring your pet’s own dried food supply sufficient for their stay and we can discuss any other treats in advance of their stay.

It would be preferable if you could bring your Guinea pig(s) own cage, although the hutches we use for the rabbits are available too. A price reduction will be granted should this be the case.

Feel free to bring sufficient dried food for your pet(s) for their stay and any toys or treats to help them settle in and feel at home.

Your pet will be looked after indoors and you will need to bring their own cage, food, sufficient for their stay and exercise ball (if they have one).

Your pets will get lots of exercise here. Not only will they be able to choose from a variety of different sizes in hutches and combined runs, but we also have outdoor runs available on our grassed area or hardstanding for use in good weather.

Health & Hygiene:

We have significant knowledge regarding small pet health however, if your pet becomes ill whilst in our care we will inform you immediately. If we are unable to contact you we will obtain veterinary treatment for your pet and proceed in their best interest. Should your pet need veterinary attention we will endeavour to transport them to your nominated Vet (if in our area) or our Vet for treatment.

Any existing medical conditions must be discussed prior to your pet staying with us. If your pet does have any medical problems, illnesses or injuries, please provide the details of their condition and any treatment/medication that is required.

We will not accept any pet that is showing signs of any undisclosed illness, disease or injury or animals with dirty/wet bottoms as these are prone to fly strike.

We will not accept rabbits for boarding unless they are fully vaccinated against Myxomatosis, VHD (Viral Haemorrhagic Disease) and RVHD2. Proof in the form of valid up-to-date certificate(s) produced at time of check in is required.

Vaccinations must have been done at least 2 weeks prior to the stay.

Myxomatosis and VHD vaccinations are done together once a year. The RVHD2 vaccination must be done 2 weeks after the VHD vaccination and annual booster vaccinations against RVHD2 are recommended.

These are extremely awful diseases, highly contagious and can cause sudden death in rabbits. Therefore, animals without proof of vaccinations will be refused boarding.

Guineas Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils and Rodents do not require any specific vaccinations.

Encephalatizoon Cuniculi
This is a microscopic brain and kidney parasite of rabbits. It's believed that the time around weaning is the most common time for infection and it comes from the rabbits' mothers. However, rabbits can catch the disease later in life, typically after being introduced to an infected newcomer, or sharing pasture with one.

Symptoms include seizures, deafness, cataracts, or unexplained behavioural changes. If EC is suspected, a specific treatment course should be discussed with a Vet as many other problems (including ear infections and spinal damage) may mimic EC infection. Treatment is likely to be drug treatments to support your rabbit, reduce inflammation, or help with the disorientation that affected rabbits may have.

Consequently, we ask you to say “Yes” or “No” on the Booking Form if you would like your bunny to use a run on our grassed area for additional exercise.

All male rabbits and guinea pigs must be neutered. We will not board pregnant pets. Any female that gives birth while in our care will remain with us along with her litter until weaned for the safety of the pets. Owners will incur additional boarding costs.

Fantastic place, exceptionally clean and our pets were extremely well cared for. Owners are very friendly and knowledgeable and had no hesitation in leaving my pets with them - I am extremely fussy regarding my pets, so that is praise indeed. Already booked for our next holiday.

Boarders Response:Thank you for your very kind words and 5* review, Karen, much appreciated. It was a pleasure looking after your two rabbits, they were so well behaved and we look forward to welcoming them again next year. Thank you!

We went on holiday for a week, leaving our rabbit with Theresa for the time being. She did a great job of looking after him. Theresa ensured that he had all the correct vaccinations before accepting him - as we would expect with all the other rabbits too, making sure they're all fit and healthy. She was so kind to accommodate our preferences on space for our bunny's well, with a large hutch in her garden; a little different from what he would at home (being a house rabbit), however he looked very comfortable and the hutch spacious once he was inside. She offered further insulation for his hutch in case of colder weather, in which case she would might even bring him into the house if it got too bad. While we were away she even sent us nice photos and updates of how our rabbit was doing that day as requested. Theresa was so kind and friendly and her pet hotel was of a great quality. If we are away in the future, we know we'll be able to entrust Theresa with our rabbit again!

5 From Titu on

Boarders Response:Thank you so much for your lovely review and very kind words, Titu. It was a pleasure looking after Neeto - he certainly is a gorgeous, cuddly bunny and attracted lots of our attention during his stay! We very much look forward to welcoming him for another holiday should you need our services in the future.

Our three rabbits, Pepper, Misty and Luna, had a lovely stay at Furry Friends Pet Hotel. We had daily updates, pictures, and even videos of the rabbits having fun in the run! The rabbits really enjoyed themselves, and were well looked after. I had no worries at all with leaving them, as Theresa and Paul are lovely and I can see how passionate they are about the care of all their guests. They have a good range of accommodation to choose from, and we were even allowed to bring our own pen for our bonded pair, which they happily made space for. I am so glad we have found somewhere that we can trust to leave our rabbits for a holiday. I would highly recommend and will definitely use again.

So glad I found the Furry Friends Pet Hotel. I booked Chloe, my Lionhead rabbit in for nine days when my regular lady was fully booked. Theresa, the lady who owns it is a lovely caring lady. She has a well equipped and thoroughly clean establishment which is professionally run. I didn't have any concerns leaving Chloe in Teresa's care as I could see she was passionate about the care of all her boarders. Chloe was happy and content when we collected her and we knew she had enjoyed her stay. There was no rush to get rid of us and we chatted about Chloe's stay and her antics. I highly recommend this pet hotel and will definitely book Chloe in again.

If you are looking for some where to leave your small furries whilst you are away then look no further. My previous lady had retired and moved to France so was I concerned about finding someone I trusted. Theresa was the perfect solution. I arranged a viewing to check out the facilities. Wow, I needn't have worried. Theresa is a very warm caring person and the set up for your pets is just like a 5 Star hotel. My two Guineas stayed in Peter's Penthouse!! One of my Guineas can be a little unsteady going up and down a ramp. Absolutely no problem, her husband Paul created a ramp complete with half landing and side rails from scratch just to accommodate her so she could easily get around! She also grows herbs especially for her guests. With regular text updates and pictures whilst we were away we had complete peace of mind. Thank you so much. The girls will see you again next time we are away.

5 From Tanya on

Highly recommend Furry Friends Pet Hotel. Our rabbit was well looked after, had a hutch much superior to his own. I should think he was disappointed to come home! We had complete peace of mind and even had the odd update on how he was during his stay. Would definitely use again the future .

5 From Audrie Critchley on

Boarders Response:Thank you very much for your kind review, Audrie. It was a pleasure looking after Pixie and so pleased we were able to help you out.

I can't recommend highly enough. Fantastic friendly service. The rabbits had their own holiday and we lived our daily updates. Theresa and her husband really got to know our rabbits and care for them. They were given wood to chew,a tunnel to run through, kept cool with a fan when it got warm. I bet they didn't want to leave! We are delighted with our service and have booked in again already for future breaks knowing our rabbits will have their special break too.

5 From Jennie Goodwin on
