Home Boarding 4* Licence No. 22/01501/ALACT, Solihull Council.
I am dog first aid trained and I hold public liability insurance and I have business insurance for all dogs that travel with me.
I only take small dogs over 12 months old and they MUST be neutered. We do not take bull terriers/bull terrier cross.
We have a 2 night minimum stay policy, long weekends and up to a weeks stay. We do not offer longer/extended stays.
I have extensive experience of diabetic/blind dogs that need daily injections and special diets.
I live in Shirley with my husband and our 3yr old Jagdterrier, Luna. We have a large secure garden with plenty of space. In good weather the garden door is always open.
We really want your dog to get along with Luna so a meet & greet is essential. Your dog will have their own room downstairs to sleep in when staying at Sandies.
If your dog suffers with anxiety/separation issues or generally likes people more than dogs then Sandies may not be the boarders for you.
If unsure I do offer a trial day, details below.
I will update owners daily or as required with photos/videos of your dogs stay.
There are many good local walking areas within a few minutes of our home, open spaces and woodland. I also have a walking pass for Olton Mere which is a 1.5mile circular walk, taking just 5 minutes in the car to access.
There are plenty of dog toys, fuss, cuddles and plenty of play/fun!
For older dogs that can not walk so far, I do have stimulation toys.
A dog tag will be fitted on your dogs collar on arrival with my contact details in the unlikely event that we become separated.
In order for your dog to board at Sandies Pet Retreat your dog will need to have had all their vaccinations, be neutered and flea/wormed. You will need to provide me with a copy/photo of your dogs vaccination card. I am registered at a local Vet.
A meet and greet with my own dog is required before any bookings are accepted, this is compulsory and will be at my local field. If this goes well then completion of my forms with a non refundable deposit will need to be completed within 72 hours to hold dates required.
We may also need a trial day to see if dogs get along. This will be for 5 hrs at a cost of £20. Trial days are week days, not weekends, we can discuss further if required.
You are more than welcome to call me but I may not have my diary with me. When emailing/messaging please state dates required, your dogs name, breed, age and confirm neutered. Thank you.
I charge £30 per night, minimum 2 nights stay. Very early/late drop offs incur an extra charge of £15 i.e. drop early morning - pick up evening will incur an extra £30.
Limited Availability
Unfortunately I now have limited availability for the remainder of 2023. I may be able to do a few days here and there, I would though not be able to take a two week booking, get in touch to check.
Please contact me on Sandiespetretreat@gmail.com or Tel: 07552218541.
Teddy stayed at Sandies for 5 days. We was very nervous about leaving teddy as he had never been away from us before. From the meet and greet I new I had no worries about leaving teddy in her care. A business that is very professional run which I can't fault. My wife and myself would like to say a huge thankyou. Now we no we can leave teddy and not have any concerns, noing that he will be looked as well as he is at home. Can't praise sandie enough again thankyou Dave &,Linda Fletcher

Boarders Response:Thank you Dave for the kind review, you are most welcome. Teddy was a joy…. and welcome back anytime. Cairns are a lovely breed and I’m so happy he came to stay and enjoyed his little break.
Sandie looked after my shih-tzu Lady for 12 days while we were on holiday. We met beforehand, which was good as we were able to discuss Lady's routine and personality(all the little likes and dislikes). Sandie was very professional and I had absolutely no qualms about Lady staying with her. Lady really did have a home away from home with Sandie. Sandie sent photos and a video of Lady too. Thank you Sandie!

Boarders Response:Hazel, thank you for your kind review. Lady was an absolute pleasure! she is such a lovely dog and we enjoyed our time together very much. Lady loved her walks and playtime but especially being brushed and cuddled, such a sweetheart. Thanks Sandie x
My Cockapoo Paddy spent 6 days with Sandie. I was very pleased with the accommodation & Sandie's attention to detail, enabled us to be happy leaving Paddy in her care. He was taken out for 2 long walks daily and was treated as part of the family. He was soon best friends with Luna, the family dog. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sandies Pet Retreat and have already booked Paddy in for his next stay.
From Karen on
Boarders Response:Thank you Karen for your kind review, it means a lot. We so enjoyed having Paddy come to stay, he is such a lovely dog and a fabulous playmate for Luna. We are already looking forward to the next stay. Many thanks Sandie x
