About our Small Pet Boarding
RabbitsGuinea PigsBobtails is a small boarding business run by myself, with support from my husband. Having kept many pets of our own over the years, rescued and nursed many rabbits and guineas. I have developed a wealth of knowledge. Here at Bobtails animals come first. We understand how precious your pets are to you and go to every length to ensure they remain happy and relaxed in our care. We are a small boarding facility and intend to keep it that way. This means that we can give your pets more personal care enabling us to keep a very close eye on there health and well being and notice any changes immediately.
Accommodation:
Rabbits and guineas are kept inside two summerhouses with built in cages. they can be doubled in size by removal of a partition panel. They are 3ft or 6ft by 2ft deep. There are double storey cages of 4ft and 5ft, these can be booked as a single or double storey. We can also provide a double cage with a mesh partition for those who may not yet live together but need to see each other.
There are fans to keep them cool on hot summer days, and a heater when necessary. We have also invested in an air conditioner for those unexpected heatwaves.
They have a night light and are securely locked at night. There is a webcam so that I can observe them on my phone at any time, but they are just in the garden and I am never far away.
Exercise:
We have runs on the grass for guineas with shade and shelter.
Rabbits have large gravelled areas to exercise with lots of tunnels, logs and dig boxes. We find this a more hygienic method as the area can be hosed down regularly and they are not grazing where others have urinated. There is always access to shelter and shade.
Your pets are never mixed with other peoples pets.
If you wish we can give you an update on your pet by text and send a picture via whatsapp.
Health & Hygiene:
We provide lovely fresh hay daily, as much as your pet needs. We also provide special hays as a treat. Breakfast is served daily and consists of a variety of good quality fresh veg, fruit and herbs.
If your pet requires any special dietary needs this can be catered for by prior arrangement.
We ask that you bring your pets own pelleted food, enough for there stay, as it is impossible to stock all varieties.
All rabbits are required to be fully vaccinated (RHD1 and 2 and myxomatosis) this should be done at least two weeks prior to arrival. Please bring their vaccination card with them or send me a photo.
We ask you to check that your pet is in good health
with no skin problems and that they are eating well. please check that your rabbit has a clean bottom. If your rabbit has a problem in this area and needs regular attention you must inform us as there may be an extra charge.
If your pet requires any special attention or medication we are happy to accommodate by prior arrangement, there may be an extra charge.
We will clip claws free of charge while your pet is boarding if required.
Your pets are cleaned daily without fail, as hygiene is of the utmost importance here at Bobtails. It is a good way of noting your pets toilet habits and if there are any changes.
We will require your vets details, but may use our own in emergency if nearer. We will always keep you informed if we have any problems so that we can discuss any action that needs to be taken. We expect to be reimbursed by you for any vet fees incurred by us. It is a good idea to inform your vet of where your pet is staying particularly if it is a long stay.
We strongly recommend that you get your pet insured.
Currently small pet boarding requires no license. Animals are left at there owners risk. We cannot be liable for any illness accidents or injury, but we do take every care to ensure the safety of your pets.
We cannot accept any liability to the owners while on the premises.

Prices include day or part day of arrival and departure.
Appointments must be made for delivery at the time of booking.
Payment in full must be made on arrival by cash or cheque.

Our pet rabbit (Lola), stayed at Bobtails for nine days. I collected her on the 17/07/22. The care provided by Dawn was excellent. The facilities were brilliant. I found Dawn very experienced and knowledgeable about rabbits, which was relief as rabbits are not the easiest of pets to care for. I would definitely recommend Bobtails.

My four Guinea pigs have just had their first week's holiday at Bobtails . From the moment we left them with Dawn I knew they were in very safe hands. Her knowledge, experience and care for her furry guest's is obvious when you first meet her and the set up she has is fantastic. Our piggies came home relaxed and happy. I always have full confidence leaving my beloved house rabbit with Dawn when I go away and have used Bobtails several times during the last few years.He is so well looked after and always is happy, well fed, clean and chilled when I collect him. There is a lot of outdoor exercise space, fans and heaters in the sheds on hand depending on the weather and Dawn shows how much she cares for the bunnies and guinea pigs she looks after. I have no hesitation in recommending Bobtails .

Just picked up Hoppy from Dawn's after a two week stay and I can't praise Dawn enough. He had never been in bunny boarding before but Dawn looked after him very, very well. As soon as you meet Dawn she fills you with confidence, she just knows what she is doing and loves rabbits! Don't look anywhere else to board your bunny!

This is the first time our rabbits have holidays with Dawn but this won't be the last. Dawn has taken excellent care of our rabbits. She is very knowledgeable and has many years of experience. The accommodation is excellent, purpose built and the rabbits have good access to the gravelled run area. I can not praise Bobtails highly enough. Dawn truly loves animals, which is very apparent in the way she cares for other peoples pets. I have boarded many rabbits and guinea pigs at Bobtails for more than 10 years and I can always leave them with confidence knowing that they will be looked after to the highest standard. If a pet is taken ill during their stay then Dawn will expertly assess the situation and take the appropriate action. Cleanliness is of prime importance with Dawn and your pet can be assured of five star accommodation. If anyone is contemplating boarding their pets during holidays etc. I would highly recommend Bobtails as you will be able to relax just knowing that your pets are in good hands.

I have used Bobtails for nearly 10 years and cannot recommend them highly enough. Over the years we have had 6 rabbits who have holidayed with Dawn. The accommodation is always spotlessly clean and tidy, with large hutches and space to run around outside. My rabbits love the plentiful and varied fresh food provided daily, chopped into bite size pieces and always come home looking really well for their time there. I can go away and relax safe in the knowledge that if one of my rabbits is ill Dawn will recognise it and look after them accordingly, whether that is taking them to the vet, administering prescribed medicine or feeding them individually. Dawn's expert rabbit knowledge and genuine care and concern for the animals in her care makes Bobtails the only place I would take my rabbits.

We are so glad that we found Bobtails Boarding in Belper. Dawn offers a professional, experienced and friendly pet boarding service. Our guinea pigs Moomin and Edward were clearly happy and well taken care off, perhaps they wanted to stay! The cages and were spotlessly clean and roomy. Dawn at Bobtails cares for your small animals just like they are her own. Highly recommend.
