Small Pet Boarding Information

About Our Boarding Service:

We are a rabbit rescue and boarding facility run from home.
We pride ourselves on our 7 years experience in rabbit care, and two Animal Care Qualificications.

We are only a small boarding facility, as this allows for a more personal service to your pets, and to give them the one to one time they deserve.

Starlight's Rabbit and Animal Boarding is run by Kristine, a young, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about rabbit welfare and doing her best for the animals.

We are insured, and are recommended by our vets.

Accommodation:

We currently have two 5.5ft long hutches outside on the patio for your outside pets, as well as one 6ft long hutch with permanently attached 6ft x 4ft run.
In the winter, we ensure they stay cosy by putting duvets over their hutches at night to keep the warmth in, while still letting air circulate.

We have two indoor pens for housepets, these are upstairs in a heated room through winter to keep them nice and snug. These are 4ft x 3.5ft and soon will be increased to 5ft x 3.5ft.

We do not mix boarders whilst they are here, and they will have their own individual hutches & runs unless bonded with any friend(s) prior to arrival.

All accommodation is on lino so it is easy on your animals feet and easy to disinfect and wipe down each day. We have storage boxes packed with fresh farm hay for your animals, these are changed daily to ensure your pets hutch/pen is clean at all times.

We also ask you to let us know what vegetables your pets like, so they can have some fresh food whilst with us.

We can also accomodate smaller rodents such as hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils etc, but they must come in their own cage.

For any other animal not mentioned, please get in contact with us to discuss if we are able to accomodate him/her.

Exercise:

All boarding runs are 6ft x 3.5ft, in bad and hot weathers, half of these are covered with tarpaulin to give a place to hide.

All runs have toys, tunnels and boxes to play with/in. All outside boarders get a minimum of 8 hours in a run. They are put out first thing in the morning, and taken back to their hutch once it is dark.

Our indoor boarders have the option of an outside run in the summer months.

Health & Hygiene:

ALL rabbits must be fully vaccinated for mxyi (done every 6 months) and VHD (annually). No rabbit will be taken in without a valid up to date card shown on arrival. It is not fair for us to put our own pets, and others, at risk.

All hutches are cleaned throughly between occupants with dilute bleach and steam cleaned, to prevent any form of cross contamination.

All bowls and bottles are also sterilised between pets

Your pets are cleaned out daily and thoroughly during their stay, to keep them in a fresh, dry and happy hutch.

Our own vet offers 24 hour care 15 minutes away for the inevitable time that your pet may take ill with us. Please note in event of this happening, you will be liable for any vet fees as a result of this, and will have an invoice from the vets for this.

All animals recieve daily health checks with us, to make sure they are well and healthy.
Medication can be administered on written consent of owner.

Small Pet Boarding Tarif

Single Rabbits / Guinea Pigs- £5.00 a night
Two Rabbits / Guinea Pigs (sharing)- £6.00 a night

You can also book out both indoor pens combined to make one large pen (4ft x 7ft soon to be 5ft x 7ft) for £10 per night with no extras for any additional bunnies!

For more in a hutch/cage, please contact us for quotes.

For Rats / Hamsters / Gerbils or mice- £3.00 a day per cage

We accept cash, paypal and boarding fees can be paid direct to our veterinary surgery over the phone via debit card (contact us for more details).

Unfortunately due to last minute cancellations, we are now asking full payment to be made after we confirm your dates are available and have given you a quote for that time period. We can now ONLY confirm your booking on receipt of full payment.

Regrettably this is necessary as otherwise we lose out with empty spaces that other people had wanted, and no money to pay the rescue vet bills.

We have 3 pairs of nail clippers and a variety of brushes for the longerhaired breed. IE Angora, Cashmere Lop, Lionhead.
