About our Small Pet Boarding

We board: RabbitsGuinea Pigs

Welcome to Berrys Bunnys situated in the quiet picturesque village of Elmstone Hardwicke in Cheltenham ( 10 mins from jct 11 M5) We offer a fully insured animal care service for rabbits and guinea pigs and aim to give you peace of mind while you are away enjoying your holiday.
We are highly experienced breeders and carers of rabbits and guinea pigs and are registered with the BRC (British Rabbit Council) and members of The Petsitters Alliance so you can be sure your pet will receive all the care and attention they deserve as all our visitors are treated as one of our own.
We have first class facilities for your special family member to enjoy and we make sure that they have a holiday to remember too.

Accommodation:

Our hutches are kept in a large purpose built double garage which is very light and airy, our hutches are a minimum of 4ft to accommodate one rabbit or 2 guinea pigs we also have 5ft hutches for two bonded rabbits and 6 ft hutches for our larger visitors. We use wood shavings and straw for bedding ( hay for guinea pigs) , we also provide litter trays and litter for our rabbits and supply bowls and bottles .

Exercise:

We have 14 garden runs as we believe that exercise is an important part of their daily routine, we also provide tunnels and toys to prevent boredom. Our runs are in a totally secure fox proof garden and all have run shades to protect them from the heat of the sun and also keep them dry during our typical British weather .......the rain
During the summer our visitors have access to the runs from 6.30am till 9.30 pm.

Health & Hygiene:

Any special requirements can be catered for and vet visits will be arranged if necessary.

I'm very sad to leave a negative review however after talking to my vet and a couple of guinea pig experts I feel I must. I have nothing against the people who run the boarding service personally - communication was always good, everyone was friendly when we met in person. I was 30 minutes late in both arriving and picking up, and they were very nice and kind about it! The cages looked and smelled clean and the service seemed very professionally-run. And I was especially grateful that during a pandemic they were able to accommodate us with not much notice. However, unfortunately our guinea pig came back home in a bad condition. Usually she weighs 880-900g but when she returned to us, she was only 675g and very wet with urine. The person who runs this boarding told us she "hadn't eaten for a couple of days". Not eating for 24 hours is a medical emergency for a guinea pig and can be life-threatening as they can go into gut stasis. Several experts have confirmed to me that the boarders should have telephoned me and sought a vet's help for a guinea pig who wasn't eating, which I would happily have paid for. Our guinea pig is recovering slowly - three weeks later she's still underweight but she's eating well now so we're hopeful she'll recover fully. Ultimately we don't know why she didn't eat at this boarder's but I do know that I should have been called about it.

Lyn always looks after our guineas when we go away and it is reassuring to know they will be treated so well and by someone that knows what they are doing particularly if there's any health issue. Cannot speak highly enough of Lyn's boarding service.

I had our beautiful mini lop buck from Lyn in 2013, every time we go away (even for just one night) I send him to Lyn and use the boarding facilities at Berrys Bunnys. I am so happy with the care he receives. We have had the odd health issue over the three years we've had him and she is the only person I completely trust to monitor him if I'm not around. He loves it there too, its a proper little bunny hotel.

This was the first time I needed to board my guinea pig so was rather nervous of leaving him. I need not have worried the care and love he received was first class. I would have never worry about leaving him in the care of Lynn again. Thanks Lynn....you provide a wonderful service

I have to say that using Berrys Bunnys absolutely made our recent holiday, Lyn was able to help at very short notice and was warm and caring throughout ( her husband is an asset to her too :-). ) Our girls came back looking healthy and happy and actually calmer (!). It was so reassuring to know they were in good hands for the week and I didn't at any stage doubt Lyn's service. I will recommend you far and wide Lyn. Thank you for allowing us time to truly relax and feel good about the choice we made for "our babies" . Sara
