About our Small Pet Boarding

We board: RabbitsGuinea Pigs

Hi I am Eleanor. I have kept rabbits and guinea pigs since I was a young girl. I am now a hobby breeder of mini lop, lionlop and lion head rabbits. I have lots of time to spend with my animals so your pet will receive the same care and attention mine do! I try my hardest to cater for individual needs and maintain your pet's usual routine and preferences.

It is advisable to book early for any period during school holidays. I AM TAKING BOOKINGS FOR EASTER, MAY HALF TERM AND SUNMER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS NOW.

Ican house indoor or outdoor animals. For those living outdoors they can be in a hutch in the garden or in the shed. I have a 6ft x 2ft hutch with large run attached or 5ft x 2.5ft hutches with access to separate runs. Each hutch is provided with a litter tray, chopped straw, loose straw, hay holder, fly net and rain cover. The indoor hutches are large and extra large Ferplast quality hutches 100cm and 120cm). I have a large room which is bunny safe so they can exercise in there daily. Two outdoor rabbits sharing would be housed in the deluxe hutch or 5ftx3ft and two guinea pigs sharing could go in either. I always supply a variety of boredom breakers for both inside and outside pets, which are rotated to keep interest up.

I have a large grassy lawn which I prefer to let my bunnies mow! Your pet will have daily opportunity to spend quality time in one of my large, safe, runs. Each run has a sun/rain cover to provide proper protection from the elements. If weather is too inclement or your pet is an indoor only pet they can use my inside run or have free time in one of our rooms supervised by myself! Each run comes with a hiding place, a water bottle, a tunnel, a perch and a large apple log to chew.

Health & Hygiene:

I will only accommodate vaccinated rabbits, a certificate showing their VHD and myxomatosis vaccinations are up to date will be required. Additionally, it is important to have the VHD2 vaccination at least two weeks prior to your visit. Vets call this Filavac. All pets will be given claw clips at no extra charge where it is needed. Long haired pets (or those that cannot groom themselves) will be groomed as needed but at a minimum of once every 3 days. I am experienced in caring for animals with special needs so please don't be afraid to ask for whatever your pet needs (I have recently cared for a 3-legged rabbit who needed extensive daily grooming and washing; an old blind rabbit prone to strokes; a one eyed rabbit which required skilled and careful cleaning of wound site; and bunnies staying for after-care following neutering.)

Hutches are inspected twice daily and litter trays removed and washed daily. In hot weather bunnies will be provided with either a covered ice block or a chilled terracotta tile to lounge on!!! They will be given a full clean at least twice a week or as needed if sooner. In between stays hutches, feed bowls, toys and litter trays are emptied, scrubbed and disinfected with rabbit friendly disinfectant.

You will need to provide your pet with their water bottle and enough of their usual feed required for their stay, I will provide fresh hay and water daily, fresh green veg 3 times per week (or more in the case of guinea pigs), and honour any special dietary requirements.

I offer health stays also for the purpose of neutering. These stays must be for a minimum of 2 weeks, and carry a £15 surcharge plus all veterinary fees. I will undertake all vet visits prior to and following surgery and will undertake all veterinary instructions as per after care and medication - I can take the hassle and worry out of it for you. I use a local independent vet who is experienced in small animals and charges competitive/reasonable fees. Full documentation and veterinary receipts will be provided and a quote obtained prior to booking. As all surgical procedures carry a risk, the risk is that solely of the owner and no responsibility will be accepted by myself for surgical errors or complications with recovery.

All pets can be flea/tick treated and/or wormed (minimum 10 day stay required for worming) at the owners discretion a surcharge of £5-10 is required for this service.

Small Pet Boarding Prices

Rates are per day or part day. Short stays are welcomed but the minimum charge is for 5 days/part days.

Indoor & Outdoor hutches:
Single pet; £9
Two pets sharing: £11

At the time of booking a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the full fee is required. All balances to be paid in cash on drop off.

If your plans change and you need to change the dates, provided I can accommodate this it will be honoured if given enough notice.

Other Services

Services: GroomingClaw Clipping

grooming and nail clipping included in daily rate
Drop off and pick up by arrangement between 9-9.30am or 6-6.30pm. Flexibility around this can be arranged with good notice.

Due to rise in cases of VHD2 I am having to put into place certain measures to ensure every rabbit in my care is protected as far as possible against this disease. Obviously the best protection is vaccination with Filava. However, some vets are still unable to obtain the vaccine. Therefore, unless you have confirmed dates, no ad hoc visits to view the facilities will be allowed. On the day of drop off you will be required to either remove your footwear before entering the house or wear protective shoe coverings. All pick ups will be carried out in the front garden of the property. VHD2 is spread through both direct and indirect contact with an infected rabbit. This includes footfall, wild animals and flies as carriers. My hutches and surrounding areas are sprayed with Virkon which is the only disinfectant known to kill the virus (and others). Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We left our much loved Buttons ( mini lop bought from here at lops on the hill ) for a two week summer break with Eleanor and I can not praise this lady enough. She looked after our bunny as well as she looks after her own with daily pictures and videos and updates on what our cheeky monkey was up too. Eleanor is an experience breeder with lots of knowledge and you can be rest assured that she will look after your pets just as well as you do. Buttons came home very happy and I will most certainly be using her in the future. And just to add she breeds the most wonderful and healthy rabbits so look no further if want gorgeous Mini lop/ Lion head or Lion lop rabbits... So glad I found her and Lops on the hill .

We have just collected our two baby rabbits who have boarded with Eleanor and her family for a week. We were really worried about leaving them, with anyone, as they have just been put back together after being spayed and neutered. We couldn't be happier with the care they have received, they were obviously well looked after because they have come back and carried on as if they haven't been away. I would highly recommend Lops on the Hill, they have taken care of the rabbits just as they would have been cared for at home. The photos and updates during the week also kept two little girls happy knowing that their very precious rabbits were having as much fun on their holiday as we had on ours. Thank you Eleanor and family.

We left our two Guinea Pigs with Eleanor for one week, and throughout the week, she had sent us photos and updates on how they were getting on. She really cares, she goes the extra mile on making sure they are comfortable, well fed and she really tells you about their character, my pigs have come home thriving! They look so chilled and happy, i think they have had a better holiday than us!! if you are looking for someone to care for your animal the way you would, look no further than here, you feel rest assured that they are in the best place, you can understand that saying in life that you have animal owners and animal lovers... she is a real animal lover, and i have booked for August straight away as I dont wish to go anyplace else!

We are novices with our Bunnies, so unsure on many things. We found Lops On The Hill after a bad experience elsewhere, and we were so happy and relieved. We boarded our Lionhead and Lop Maisey and Dana there twice now, once for a few days, and once for just under 2 weeks. I CANNOT RECOMMEND LOPS ON THE HILL HIGHLY ENOUGH - Eleanor and her family are lovely, and I trust her with our bunnies, who are the most precious things in our family. She boarded them indoors, but gave them time exercising outside. She sent pictures to us while we were away, which always filled us we joy. When we came back, our bunnies were happy, calm and comfortable. If you have rabbits that need boarding, Eleanor and Lops On The Hill are a safe place to board your bunnies.

My bunnies have just come back from 2 weeks here and they sound like they had a brilliant time! Very much felt I didn't need to worry at all and they were clearly in expert hands and got lots of cuddles and care. Eleanor is an expert rabbit carer offering a boarding service tailored to each individual rabbit need. Thank you, I very much hope my two will stay again! 🐰
