Rabbit Boarding Information

About Our Boarding Service:

Rodents Retreat is a boarding service catering for rabbits, guinea pigs and small caged pets e.g. hamsters, gerbils etc located in Southport.

I have many years experience keeping all of these animals, over 10 years working for the RSPCA, a HND in Animal Management and a Zoology degree.

Accommodation:

Hutches are large, spacious and purpose built in a modern, secure brick outbuilding. Small caged pets will be kept inside my house.

Prices include all bedding, hay and fresh fruit and veg if your pet is used to being fed these. To stop any stomach problems or upsets, it is required you bring enough of your pets dried food to last the duration of its stay.

Exercise:

Unfortunately we do not have a grassed area for runs to go. Each rabbit will be allowed free run of the floor inside the building for as long as possible during the day depending on how busy we are, all day if they are the only boarder!!

The hutches are large enough to compensate for this and for the short period of time your rabbit will be with us, we do not see this as a problem. Rabbits will not be mixed with other boarders.

I work term time only so will be there during popular holiday times to lavish plenty of individual attention on boarders, providing them with mental stimulation. All boarders will be treated as though they are my own pets for the duration of their stay.

Health & Hygiene:

Each animal will be given a daily brush and health check. Dirty corners and bedding will be removed daily and replenished with fresh. Bowls and water bottles will also be washed daily.

Hutches will be disinfected and scrubbed out thoroughly between boarders with a proprietary disinfectant.

It is preferable that rabbits have been vaccinated against myxomatosis and VHD before boarding, but this is not compulsory.

Payment is required by cash or cheque when you drop your pet off and a £15 cash deposit is required, which is refundable when you collect your pet.
