About our Home Boarding

With more than 30 years' dog ownership, I simply can't imagine life without a dog! As a teenager, I devoted my weekends & holidays to working in a boarding & quarantine kennels. In more recent years I've been involved with various dog rescue organisations, have fostered a number of dogs in need. One of my dogs is himself a rescue. I am CRB cleared, have full insurance, a canine First Aid certificate and am Local Authority licensed for both day and overnight stays.

Dogs in my care share my home alongside my own. However, I have plenty of room so if your dog needs a bit of quiet time, needs to sleep away from other dogs or is used to sleeping in a cage, this is easily achieved. I take in a maximum of 2 boarders at a time to ensure all receive the level of care and attention they need. Raw feeders welcome; I have plenty of freezer space. With a successful pre-stay "meet & greet", you can relax knowing your dog will be happy in its temporary home.

Exercising dogs isn't a chore or a box to be ticked; it's a fundamental part of my day. When I take doggies out, I might be gone an hour, I might be gone for three or all day depending on the needs and capabilities of the dog (or dogs) in my care, the weather and how many people and other dogs we meet & greet on the way! Back at home, doggies have access to a large and secure garden as and when they want or need it.

Health & Hygiene:

All dogs must be fully vaccinated, wormed and treated against fleas/ticks. If your dog has any medical conditions, I will discuss these and any medications with you to manage them as you would. For peace of mind, I have a canine First Aid certificate and my own veterinary practice is a 10-15 minutes drive away.

August 2016 Well we've just left out dog Poppy with Julie for the third time now and I'm sure she thinks it's her second home. Julie takes away all the worry that leaving your pet brings. I can't recommend her highly enough. Thanks again from Poppy and from us all. Xxxxx

We had booked a holiday abroad and were quite anxious about leaving our young black Labrador, even just for a week. He had a few trial days with Julie and Toby and clearly loved his time with them. Julie reassured us with her professional and efficient approach, ensuring us that all aspects of Floyd's stay would be catered for. When it came to leaving Floyd we felt confident that he would be well looked after which made the separation so much easier. Julie kept us updated each day with encouraging comments and brief stories of what he was up to, which was brilliant! Our holiday was so much more enjoyable and relaxing knowing that Floyd was ok. He is our first dog and the guilt of leaving him was weighing heavy but we need not have worried and we would not hesitate in asking Julie again in the future.

Fantastic professional service from Julie, highly recommended. Maggie our 18 month old Black Lab had a great time with Julie and Toby. This was the first time we had left her with anyone, Julie reassured us and put our minds at ease with updates how she was doing throughout her stay. Many Thanks, Andrew,Debbie and the Boys (oh & Maggie)

Berry, my dog, has been going to spend her holidays with Julie and Toby for the last couple of years now. If I can't look after Berry there is nowhere else I would rather she be. Berry is always very eager to see Julie and Toby and on each of my returns I have picked up a very healthy, fit and obviously happy dog. Julie really gets to know your dog and gives excellent personalized care. As a returning customer of Julie's I know how important it is to have peace of mind whilst you are away and with Julie you get that knowing that your four legged friend is having a wonderful time. I would thoroughly recommend Julie's for holidays or day care. Veronica

I can highly recommend Julie's Kennel Free boarding. Our dog had lots of exercise and we could tell when we picked her up that she had had a wonderful holiday.

Just left our dog Poppy for the first time with Julie and Toby and we were so pleased we did. I think she had a better holiday than us! Julie looked after her like she was her own dog. She got loads of exercise and cuddles and seemed to know her way around the house and gardens really well. We will definitely be back and are really happy to have found such a lovely homely place to leave Poppy when we go away. Thanks Julie. 😃

If you're looking for home from home accommodation with complete peace of mind for the most important member of your family you have found the right place. Jerry has stayed with Julie and Toby a few times now, one visit being a ten day stay while I went abroad. I was very impressed with the meet and greet visit which took place in the secure spacious garden at Julie's before heading off to the beach for a walk where we discussed any concerns I had about leaving my nervous, unpredictable six year old German Shepherd. Collecting Jerry after his first visit is what sealed it for me, I had received two reassuring texts during his stay and on collection was greeted by a very happy wagging tailed dog. Kennel Free K9 is a very happy, relaxed no- nonsense household, somewhere where you can leave you dog and know they are going to be loved and looked after as they would be at home. Thank you Julie.

Fantastic! Visiting Alnwick for a few days we were delighted to find such super care for our lab Chalky. Julie (and Toby) made Chalky so at home and welcome on the meet and greet visit he was desperate to get out the car when we arrived for his day with them! We were delighted with the care and attention he received and what a happy and content dog we picked up after our lovely day out, thank you so much Julie.

During our 2 week holiday in Northumbria we left our pointer X dog Lula with Julie a number of times. Julie took her for long walks on the beach and dunes, which she loved and spent hours playing with Julie's dog Toby in Julie's good sized garden. Julie was professional and friendly and clearly loved dogs. We would definitely use her services again knowing that Lula would have fun, company and lots of exercise.

Left my year old Border Collie Laika for just over week while we holidayed abroad. After initial meet and greet I was left feeling confident that she would be well cared for and happy while we were away allowing us to enjoy or break worry free. On our return it was clear that my confidence was well founded as Laika was as we left her and a very happy pup. So I would definitely recommend this service to any one needing their dog well looked after.

My lurcher.josie, has now stayed at Kennel Free K9 on several occasions and she seems to treat it as her own home.Julie really looks after her and she is very happy and content.I would have no hesitation in recommending her and I am happy that I have found somewhere that I can leave Josie in the knowledge that she will be well looked after.

We left our dog Rolo for a couple of nights with Julie. We tend to avoid leaving Rolo as he becomes quite stressed, however this was a completely different experience. We came back to a stress free dog who had clearly had a wonderful time! I'm not sure he wanted to come home! Its a home from home and Julie clearly treats the dogs as her own. Would highly recommend.

Our break away was made even better knowing our best furry friend Bran was being looked after in his own 5 star hotel. Julie had everything in place for his stay and we were delighted that Bran took to Julie, Toby and the other 'guests', making his holiday home from home.

Our Border Terrier has just returned from his holiday at Kennel Free K9s home dog boarding and we can tell he thoroughly enjoyed himself. He had stayed for a weekend with Julie and Toby prior to a week long stay. When we arrived for his second stay he couldn't wait to get in the house! We would certainly recommend Kennel Free K9s and would happily leave our dog there again. We were impressed with Julie's attention to detail in getting to know your dog and what they are used to at home. Our dog just loves being out for walks and on the beach and he's had lovely long walks with Julie, her dog, Toby and other dogs that Julie had to stay or with her for the day. Thanks fo much. Julie (and Toby) looked after our dog Heidi when we went on a family holiday. It helped that Julie had previously fostered Heidi before she came to live with our family. I knew that it was a beautiful house with a huge enclosed garden and beach walks on the agenda every day. Also Toby is a friendly gorgeous little dog who had great fun running and playing with Heidi. If you want your dog to have a luxury holiday that is totally doggy centred look no further than this for first class care and accommodation. I didn't have to worry about a thing as I knew she was very happy in a fabulous home environment. Thanks Julie for giving Heidi a great holiday too!

My friend gave me Julie's details.what a fab place to leave your dog. Home from home. My dog was so happy there, Julie looked after her so well, showered as much love and attention on her as I do. Excellent, 5 stars!!!! Thanks Julie.

Highly recommend! Julie came and met Brenig at our home first, then he went to meet Toby and Julie at their house. Julie had thought of everything that would make it all go so smoothly. It's always hard leaving your canine family member when you go away but I had no worries at all, knowing he was in such safe hands. When we go away again,I will have no hesitation in asking Julie to look after him. We managed to enjoy a holiday without worrying about how Brenig was doing, so thank you Julie!

We relocated to Embleton over the summer and needed to find help with Charley, the choccie lab for the start of term. Julie (and Toby!) have been fantastic in looking after Charley, who is sometimes very nervous and she immediately absolutely loved going to see Julie and spending time with her. The peace of mind provided by Julie's care of Charley is amazing! Very professional and capable, but also very loving with the animals - a great combination.
