Many pet owners book me before they arrange their own holiday. Early enquiry is advised to avoid disappointment.
I REGRET THAT I AM UNABLE TO BOARD YOUR PET IF IT IS UNDER 2 YEARS OLD - NOT FULLY HOUSE TRAINED OR HAS SEVERE BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES.
I hold the ENHANCED CRB CERTIFICATE am FULLY INSURED and have many years experience with dogs of all breeds, large, medium and small.
Many of my boarders are 'rescue' dogs. I find these dogs don't present me with any special problems, and settle well. No separation anxiety here!
I take only ONE dog at a time or TWO from the SAME FAMILY, and like to think that your pet enjoys it's stay with me, while you're away. I get many pets returning to me year after year. A lovely vote of confidence from both pet and owner!
I started this business after I lost my own lovely 14 year old Rough Collie, (the handsome Fella in my slideshow) I now get my 'doggie fix' looking after other cherished pets!
I do not own a cat - or any other animal (I often get asked this)!
I am happy to text a mid-stay message/pic to your mobile phone while you're away, for your peace of mind. This has proved to be very popular.
Accommodation:
Each and every pet I look after is special to me. Some owners tell me they worry that their pet will not settle with a stranger, but .......
In the 15 years I have been caring for pets both large and small, confident and nervous, all quickly settle and are happy with me.
Once you have left your pet with me, I become their 'pack leader'. When you return, you resume that role! Just as it should be!
He/she is given all the love and attention that you hope for, with plenty of play and cuddles.
Your pet will have the run of the ground floor of my warm non smoking home, with conservatory and fully secure garden.
In the winter months I have a log fire in my sitting room, which my doggie guests seem to love to stretch out in front of in the evenings, while I watch TV.
He/she will sleep in it's own bed (bed and food provided by you). I also welcome pets who like the security of a cage.
As far as possible I keep to the routine your pet enjoys at home, ie feeding/exercise times etc. and will be guided by you, the owner.
Exercise:
I live opposite fields and woods, and normally exercise pets twice daily - but will follow your instructions regarding your pet's needs.
Your dog will be on a lead at all times while exercising (I use a long extending lead) unless I have your written permission to take him/her off. lead, and I am confident that their recall is excellent. I have several different walks to chose from, so if your pet is nervous around other dogs, I can avoid that situation.
If I go out for the day, and with your permission, your pet will come with me. On nice sunny days we sometimes go to the coast.
Health & Hygiene:
My home is within walking distance of my vet with whom I have a good working relationship and who recommends me to his clients. I am happy to administer medication as and when required.
I ALWAYS invite owner and pet for interview, in my home, before taking a booking. This enables you to like what you see, ask me any questions you may have and for me to meet your pet and be confident that he/she is well behaved, fully house trained and non-aggressive.
I also require your pet to have been recently wormed, to have up to date vaccinations and be free from fleas and ticks.
Home Boarding Tariff
£30 deposit upon booking.
Balance of payment on 1st day of stay.
Fees as follows:- £20 per day.
£30 for 2 dogs from same family.
The minimum stay is two days at the daily rate.
Discount offered for longer stays.
Unlike many other carers, my fees DO NOT INCREASE during school or Bank holidays but regret NOT available over Christmas and New Year.
Caged birds, and cat visiting - prices on request.

"We boarded Phoebe our Cockerpoo with Maggie and she thrived. I was anxious she might pine for us as it was the first time she'd been left, but Maggie is very knowledgeable about dog behaviour and has had years of experience looking after many different breeds. She reassured me that she would be fine. Phoebe was just as fit, lively and loving when we collected her as when we left her. She has slipped seamlessly back into her old routine and I'm sure she enjoyed her holiday with Maggie as much as we did ours in America. The one to one loving care your dog receives from Maggie is like leaving your dog at home. Highly recommended."

"My dog Toby (the old golden retriever in some of the photos) stayed with Maggie on many occasions. He loved going to stay with her, and used to get excited when we got near to her house. On a couple of occasions in his later life he became ill whilst staying with her, once quite seriously, and she dealt with him promptly and with great care. When he died recently she was nearly as upset as we were. I visit her house often and see the parade of dogs that she has staying, and they are all happy and well cared for, even the more difficult cases. I would recommend her to anybody looking for a safe, loving environment for their dog."

" Maggie is great with dogs! Our 2yr old collie Poppy has stayed with her 3 times now. Poppy is a bit neurotic and we were worried about leaving her. After a long search we found Maggie. Poppy loves spending time there, always pulling our arm off when we arrive at the house. Its such a relief to find someone who loves Poppy and embraces her individuality!
