About our Home Boarding

I have been boarding dogs since February 2015, although I watched several dogs for a friend before that. I am a licensed dog boarder and this is my main occupation. Above all, I enjoy having dogs to stay and treat them as members of the family.

Accommodation:

I have a 3-bedroom house, and a small garden and patio area. The layout of the house means that dogs can have the run of downstairs without being able to get upstairs, however I do let them up at night if they won't settle downstairs. Dogs are allowed on the settee, my dog spends most of her time there. The garden is fully fenced, at a height that large dogs can't get over, and I check it regularly to make sure there are no gaps that a small dog could get through.

Exercise:

I have 3 local parks to choose from, and sometimes take dogs to the beach as well. I can walk dogs as many times a day as you require. Normally it would be 2 or 3 times a day, for up to an hour, but we can stay out longer if that's what your dog is used to. My bullmastiff used to persuade me to extend her walk to 90 minutes sometimes, by making it clear that she didn't want to go home just yet! If you bring your dog's favourite ball or throw-toy, they will have fun playing chase and fetch. There is an enclosed area where I can let dogs off lead as a trial to make sure that they will come back, or if you prefer they can be kept on the lead all the time.

Health & Hygiene:

Dogs must have up to date vaccinations, given at least 4 weeks prior to their stay, and up to date flea and worm treatment. As a licensed dog boarder, my home has been inspected for safety, and I have a pet first aid kit and fire safety regulations in place. I have space to segregate any ill dog and keep them separate from others. I can administer oral medication, ear drops and skin cream. I am alert to any signs of illness and will contact you or make a decision about taking them to the vet, just as I would for my own dog. I completed a canine first aid course in May 2017.

Alfie, our daughter's Airedale, definitely seemed to make himself at home at Charlottes. Charlotte sent us regular up dates and photographs of Alfie. She is an obvious dog lover and understood Alfie's nature and needs. I would not hesitate to use Charlotte again.

It was the first time Samson had stayed with Charlotte and her beautiful Bullmastiff Bertha. I had met up with Charlotte a few times to make sure the dogs got along, which they did as Bertha has such a lovely relaxed nature about her, so I felt immediately at ease, knowing that Samson was in capable caring hands! When we went to collect Samson I could see how fit and well he looked and show numerous photos of a big smile on his face, going on some beautiful walks! I find Charlotte extremely accommodating and her prices very reasonable and would recommend her in a heartbeat!
